What is the max skill level a commander can reach and is this level different for for generals and field marshalls, like can generals reach up to level 10 while field marshalls only can get up to 6?

Since recruiting Generals cost 150 Political Power, why shouldn't you just recruit one Field Marshal where you put in all your divisions? Especially if you have a Field Marshal with Logistical Wizard (which would end up in 20% less consumption of all divisons you have), Thoroug Planner (50% planning bonus for all battle plans) and Inspirational Commander (10% Moral for all units), which would make it a very, very good commander for all divisions. Also the saved Politcal Power can then spend on something else, like good manufactures or ministers.
Because you would need to formulate all plans on all fronts and all divisions with this one Mega Field Marshal. This would be a cluster fxxx to control and manage.

Are divisions nameable? and can I prioritise equipment for specific divisions?

Will we not have a need to manually assign reinforcement priorities for specific divisions? If not that's great, otherwise it could force players to make armies with a single division just to be able to prioritise reinforcement?

Edit: I see its theaters that can be prioritised not armies, I guess the player cant assign theaters and wouldn't be able to prioritise a single division.

I don't yet understand when to use a general and when a field marshal besides the 12 divsions limit. Both are assigned to 1 army each, right? The restriction for an army is: 1 <= size <= infinity.
Let's say country A has 1 perfect field marshal and a bunch of mediocre generals. What keeps me from assigning all 150 divisions I might have to 1 army which is lead by that 1 field marshal?
In the screenshot the British Theatre contains 1 army of 58 divisions lead by 1 field marshal.

What benefit do you have from utilizing generals at all? Are their traits better?
Generals give a direct bonus for divisions fighting in specific terrain. (Their traits.)
Field Marshals are Staff officer (as I understood.). Their bonus are more for long engagement, where they provide broader bonuses.
An Example i could think of would be Stalingrad. Make an Army with 5 divisions and assign a General with Urban Assault. That may give you a better fighting chance, than the broader bonuses from a Field Marshal.

Can an army have both an assigned field marshal and an assigned general or only one or the other?
Only one. So either of them.

Divisions will get a standard name as such: {number of the division} + {Name of the Template}. 1. Infanterie Division or 8. Fighting Eagle. (What ever you want to name the template)
The priority of a division is handled by the template. If you change the priority of the template, all assigned division will also change their priority.

Ideally I would like to assign field marshals to a theatre and generals to an army, so the units will use both traits

Because it will be quite hard to set, for example with Germany, all your divisions under 1 army commanded by one good FM and order this army to defend France while attacking Russia on the other side and fighting in North Africa.

might have been answered elsewhere, But are Fm and Generals the only leaders we can asign or are there still lower lvl leaders to asign to each division and Batalions just like we had in HOI3?

Pretty sure that foxes can live in swampy areas without much problems. Remember this trope is a lie.
Real life swamps are the spots in any temperate zone with the most biological diversity, the intentional drying out of swamps (there's a word, I cant remember it right now) in the last couple of centuries have severly hurt the biological diversity of many developed countries.
Swamp fox works, but considering the desert fox it's a bit boring.

I was just curious because the screenshot shows exactly that: 58 division under 1 leader. Pure Horror!

Can generals be generated in-game to make up for a lack of historical generals?

This is a feature that has been requested since HOI1.

I think I would use Field Marshals for the majority of the army and especially the infantry for saving supplies and defensive plus planning bonus.
Then have generals for the smaller specialised forces such as Panzer Leader+Desert Fox or Fortress Busters and Navals or Mountaineers or Paratroopers operating behind enemy lines and/or in special terrain.

division leaders are gone. Only these two remain.
Wow, so we only have to assign a few leaders in the entire game, i dont know if i like that, yes its easier and less micro but also less emersive i guess. guess i have to get used to that

Seems like a lot of re-structuring during and between campaigns.
Then what would be a reason for you to utilize Field Marshals? Only when you run out of good generals?
I could think of using a field marshal as historical Germany in the Western Europe theatre after the Fall of France. Like 50 divisions under a logistics wizard to garrison Western Europe. Maybe generals then for offensive campaigns?

They might want to rethink the "no limit" for field marshals. 30-40 divs per field marshal should be enough.
Think about it: When at peace, you assign the entire army to a logistic wizard. Why wouldn't you? It's gamey and requires a lot of re-structuring, but necessary for max efficiency.

These are batches and not ship hulks as I have first thought. On first glance I thought that these are the navies that are organized in each theater.

Generals allow you to do more specialised moves like paradroops because then you activate a commanders battleplan the commander will do the whole plan.
