One thing I noticed after looking at this map, is that most major US industrial areas are located on coasts. If the player ever achieves naval superiority, he can coastal-bomb the crap out of those cities just by using ships, crippling the economy.

And supply DD is coming next. Yay!

You seem to be forgetting Detroit

I hope they don't automatically repair all "infrastructure" this time. It takes specific amounts of labor, time and resources, and depending on where and when those costs are paid, that determines where your army can go when deep into a continent like into the Soviet Union.
We know that damage to factories will need IC to repair. I think it is the same for infra.

What im interested in is the PP. Being restricted having only 1 instead of 2 PP per day untill 1940 does impact the game a bit.
This penalty is maybe worse then what France gets, US also have the worst laws in the game as well to start with.

I would assume the US picking a naval manufacturer pretty quickly.
Better pick a minister that increase the construction rate of civilian factories. Civilian factories are the majority of US factories and thus focus on them first is a good thing.

and if not would you delay the research of certain techs just to make sure you actually have a manufacturer bonus (taken into consideration that they give combat bonusses and not just +10% research speed).
I would probably just research even without a manufacturer. These poor designs will only be for the early game anyway and the stuff that are going to be mass produced comes later then manufacturers will be used for all research.

Aye that was what i was thinking too

Better pick a minister that increase the construction rate of civilian factories. Civilian factories are the majority of US factories and thus focus on them first is a good thing.
Why? a +PP if it gives 0.2 pr. day will be greater when you already have your amount reduced.
Also your laws will help civilian building speed iirc and you will certainly get a lot of factories to help with the build up from trading away all your ressources.

I would probably just research even without a manufacturer. These poor designs will only be for the early game anyway and the stuff that are going to be mass produced comes later then manufacturers will be used for all research.
Would you even research ahead of time to get say the Sherman if you planned to mainly use that as your tank in the war? This ofcourse does not matter if the manufacture only give +10% research speed but if they give +reliability and - armor or something it might be worth the wait for when you have the manufacture. Ofcourse you will probably just hire the most important ones and skip on the lesser important manufactures. But we'll see when we get to play the game.

US poor economy law can not be removed by political power, it can only be removed by a national focus or something.

Yes you get bonuses which is why it is a good idea to mostly use your civilian factories to build even more civilian factories but at the same time more boost in this area will contribute alot and help snowballing. US start with around 125-150 civilian factories, many are used for consumer goods which is why they only get 75 useable factories to start with.

My idea is a massive buildup of civilian factories, don't know how many factories US can support but maybe you can increase your civilian factory number into 300s with also a buildup of dockyards and synthetic plants. Then war happens you just convert most civilian factories into military factories.

US law make military factories very expansive to build, however it may be a good idea to build some early on just to be safe.

Minister that give political points can be better choice but you will lose factories by picking them (The more factories US can build the worse they get over the minister that give construction bonus to civilian factories).

US don't have perfect infrastructure which is something that should be improved (Podcat basically said once that infrastructure increase the amount of resources a province produce) to unlock more spots for factories. The same minister that help constructing civilian factories also help with infrastructure.

Another things is that I don't think US can get that far into the mobilization laws because it have to many factories compared to its enemies so the most effective way to get military factories is to convert civilian factories with the super good production bonuses to civilian factories.
Would you even research ahead of time to get say the Sherman if you planned to mainly use that as your tank in the war?
Only if I know war will happen soon because I don't think I can convert factories before war. Without many military factories tech rushing is in my opinion to expansive.

I notice in the first page image, War Plan Red, of interest to me as I did a mod for darkest hour called Homeland, where the USA and ENG fight a war in 1935...
War Plan Red is also on the image. But I'm now confused as in an earlier DD, wasn't there an issue with Democracies going to war against eachother? Maybe my memory is incorrect?
So if War Plan Red is possible and my memory is correct, how can this occur please?
Don't get me wrong, I'd LOVE to play THAT game... (Britain still has an empire, and the USA is pre-empire ... )

Very interesting to see WARPLAN RED included in the game.
For those interested in history -- in the 1930s the USA actually drew up these plans for a strike against CANADA.
Conspiracy theory rebuttalists should read the article before knee-jerk responses;

That unfortunately makes the game more realistic and at the same time less fun to play any Latin American country with hopes of becoming a superpower. Don't cry for me Argentina...

I'm with you, I think the colors look awful.

Not sure what "manifest destiny" is supposed to mean in this time frame but the following US foreign doctrine would be very relevant:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Empire_of_Liberty

"The Empire of Liberty is a theme developed first by Thomas Jefferson to identify the responsibility of the United States to spread freedom across the world. Jefferson saw the mission of the U.S. in terms of setting an example, expansion into western North America, and by intervention abroad.

Major exponents of the theme have been Abraham Lincoln (in the Gettysburg Address), Theodore Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson (and "Wilsonianism"), Franklin D. Roosevelt, Harry Truman, Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton,[1] and George W. Bush. In the History of U.S. foreign policy the Empire of Liberty has provided motivation to fight the Spanish–American War (1898),[2] World War I (1917),[3] the later part of World War II (1941), the Cold War (1947–91) and the War on Terror (2001-present).[4]"

The red ones probably don't have their requirements fulfilled.
That sound like the most plausible thing. An other suggestion would be the blue is the one selected however I would expect a more highlighted color.

Here we can see several blue one so I think you are correct:)

I imagine the other things maybe require first taking a stance to prepare the population for war? The WPA has nothing to do with war.
Or maybe the others require the Great Depression ending first.

Yes but do the requirements effectively make them exclusive? I hope they cant allly with germany (war plan white) and make war with japan (war plan orange) at the same time, if japan is in the axis.

Japan wouldn't have attacked Pearl Harbor in this scenario because they would ostensibly be allied with the US and would (presumably) still be getting oil, parts, etc, and their assets wouldn't have been frozen. So it certainly is an unlikely scenario that the US would be allied with Germany and at war with Japan.

Well I think that WP Orange is for a player that wants to take down the Japanese, but for some reason is not too interested in fighting the Germans. Or possibly you can meet the conditions for both if they are allied.

It does seem from the Eagle symbol in the WP White that if you take this path you go Fascist which would probably be the most far fetched one, unless MacArthur just takes over.

War Plan Orange is different to the other war plans. Black, white and red all appear to culminate in joining a faction, but orange doesn't.

I'm not sure what the ship's wheel is mean to exactly. My best guess would be aligning to steering towards or against a particular faction/country. So assuming everyone else acts historically, taking white might lock out orange, but taking orange without further action probably won't lock out any of the other war plans.
