Once again thanks for the DD Johan! This time it really came with perfect timing. Now I wonder about the balance between majors and minors regarding the max number of industries. The number of industries cannot just depend on population and infrastructure but also on things like education level, GDP and politics. Is that taken into consideration?

The number of industries cannot just depend on population and infrastructure but also on things like education level, GDP and politics. Is that taken into consideration?

No. It's a wargame, not a country simulator after all :D Maybe some economics laws can have effect on the production, but there is no such things like education or GDP.

My hope is that if laws are moddable and if we can create new we will be able to create Education Laws that have effect on some aspect of the game.

Maybe education falls unter the Focuses in this quote?
There are some focuses or events that may extend that cap, but this is the limit you have to plan about.
EDIT: And, isn't GDP going to be a result of Civilian Industry? Wouldn't make sense to allow the quantity of something to factor into the max quantity of itself.

Yes, but of course it's preferred to have a realistic max number of industries for each nation at the start of each scenario, right? Then it's not only a question about population and infrastructure.

2. factory types are hard coded. we tried to make it moddable, but wasnt feasable.

If it's not feasible to make it fully moddable, as a workaround would it be possible to add say a dozen "unused" factory types with moddable names and allow modders to change what gets produced in which kind of factory? Or is it the latter part that's infeasible?

Oh stop teasing me, I'm just going to stare at HOI4 screenshots for hours and hope time passes sooner.

Maybe they can take a few days' worth of hourly (game-time) screenshots, make a .gif from them, and we can pretend we're playing....

My upper classes will be pissed when the factories that used to produce luxury furniture are suddenly churning out tiger tanks.

Piano and furniture factories were mainstays of the British aircraft industry - the Mosquito and doubtless others had plywood fuselages.

Primary defense against strategic bombing are fighters, not AAA.

Role of AAA is mostly to deter bombers from flying low enough for accurate strikes - reducing effect of that bombing.

Looks great. I have to do a bit of complaining though, I don't think that that is the best way to represent how many factories there are. Is it really necessary to have an individual icon for every factory? Why not just have an icon and then a number denoting how many factories there are of that type. Maybe make the numbers more transparent, or put them above/below the factory type

Maybe there are individual icons because they can be to identify what is being produced, when it will be finished, if a factory is idle or under capacity or other factory-specific info at a glance?

AA still didn't work as intended in HOI3, though. It was wa too easy to destroy. Send a wing to bomb factories and roads, and it'll also take out most of the province's AA incredibly quickly, essentiall making it pretty useless.

As for the role of AA, it didn't really deter bombers or degrade their performance, either, except I think the AI preferred to bomb targets without high AA coverage.
