And please Paradox, leave Auto assign off every time you start game. I hate the fact that every time I start new game Guderian,v.Kleist,v.Manstein,Konev,Zhukov,Patton and many other excellent generals are commanding infantry divisions. I hate it that I have to change commanding officers for every german, american (and God forbit Soviet - there are so many) divisions every time I start new game.

While I would also like autoassign to be an option at game start check the ranks and assignments of those generals you meantion as they were in 1936.
Patton I believe was a colonel in charge of a regiment at the time, Guderian commanded a division etc.

Could be, but for the '36 Campaign, it is mostly automated. The later campaigns do have pre-assigned generals though.

Yes, but Guderian commanded one of first 3 Panzer divisions (2. Panzer) since 1935. In 1938. he was given command of XIX Armeekorps (in reality motorised corps). In HOI I need to find him, since he usually commands some infantry division who knows where.
