New Video Interview Video Discussing Next Expansion Now Available​

Paradox Interactive announced that Hearts of Iron III will be receiving a brand new expansion, entitled Hearts of Iron III: For the Motherland during the Paradox Interactive Convention 2011. This latest expansion for the popular World War II grand strategy title is the second expansion in the series and will be available in Q2 2011. To celebrate the announcement of the newest addition to Hearts of Iron III, Paradox Interactive has released a new video interview from the development team, highlighting some of the new content to come and insights on the development itself.

Hearts of Iron III takes players on an epic journey through the torn earth of World War II. Occupy any of 15,000 provinces, wage war, and guide one of 100 nations to glory. With a realistic military command AI and a colorful cast of historically accurate military commanders and politicians, Hearts of Iron III is the most detailed depiction of World War II ever created.

Please PI, don't rush it, for the sake of quality. There are lots of good ideas circulating on the forum to improve the game pick as many as possible and feasible. And Hearts Of Iron 3 will become a truly great game.

Hope you have some time left for some of the other wishes that came up on different threads. Would be nice to know what would be the best way to suggest new ideas.

I like the "undeclared war" feature, but it doesn't have any impact if the (ai) US joins the war to early.

Agreed, that was quite a surprise. The new improvements are starting to look more appetizing. My biggest issue with HOI3 was the severe lack of historical plausability (as Germany I can never get Finland to join the Axis, SU getting overrun, etc etc you know the examples by now) . Hopefully this expansion will fix that finally without violating the sandbox premise of the game and make everyone happy.... hah.

really worried about the balance - although some of the features are great for SP I hope that MP games dont suffer due to exploits and human ingeniuty....
(esp with coup chances, partisans dropping behind lines, and early usa war entry...)

Everything in the interview sounds good. I hope there is plenty of time available to get the new features working really well, I would sooner wait several more months for a better product.
I am almost finished another game and a couple of things that has been really annoying me is the AI basing of aircraft, they often get sent to some airfields miles from any front and then the AI seems to forget about them. Less of a problem if you have small theatres, but it is a big problem for Japan, USA, Soviets and the UK who's theatres can span thousands of miles.
Another big problem is the AI strategically deploying divisions to other fronts while forgeting to defend the area where the unit was. This will happen so often if for instance Persia joins the Allies or surrenders, the troops in India who are supposed to be fighting the Japanese in Burma decide to catch a train to Egypt because they would prefer to fight Italians and vise-versa.
Another thing is the fact that so many countries tend to drift a little too easily towards the Axis and far right politics, while the democratic countries do not seem to do much to try and prevent this from happening. All of these things fit into the scope of the interview, so hopefully they can be improved. I can see the partisans being very annoying if not done right.
Will the Soviet Union be recieving aid if part of the Big Three and fighting the Axis?

And one question: Will GiEs be able to organize partisans in their former territory? I'd expect Polish government in the UK to spend most of their time on ways to try to ruin every single day for Germans somehow...
