I believe you can turn off cloud-saving to disable sharing functionality. I'll look into this and get back to you with confirmation.
Hmmm. I have cloud saving turned off; maybe that's why I have no stats.

If it's built around cloud-sharing, you can play offline and not get tracked. Just launch online to get new mods pulled into launcher, and of course, get updates.
I play on-line, I just don't share my saves in the cloud.

I have no problem with coming out with a service like this. But it kinda sticks it to people who have already paid for all the DLC. Especially if they did it recently.

Whats the advantage of subscribing now if you have everything?

I feel like this is a poor attempt at a "season pass" approach used for lot of console games.

Am I missing something?

Yes, you're missing something. If you already have everything, you can freely ignore the subscription. You don't need to worry about it.

They've already said new DLCs will still be for sale, and not just for sub, too.

The sub is useful for new people who want to try the game w/o buying all the dlcs on top of it immediately. Five bucks to try it all. Then they can decide if they want all of them, or just pay a little when they want to play.

Their money, their choice.

The existence of the sub option is something you can freely ignore, now and in the future, if you want to buy the DLCs going forward.

If only they didnt shove it down our (ppl who paid for dlc) throats this would be true. Instead I need to download a stupid mod to remove the Ads, like Fallout 4 and Bethesda's money grabbing paid mods.

Clearly no adults who are tired of everything being cut down and made a subscription. Let me buy my game without more ads please. Is adding and option to exit it too hard? Or fixing the plane or navy bugs? So frustrating. At least reddit is reasonable /s

Well, I figured it out. It tracks only ironman games.
Yeah.
Cool addition that is currently useless for large portion of playerbase. I hope it's a bug and not intended this way.
After more testing, I found that it only tracks Ironman CAPABLE games, not just Ironman. So if you use any mod that changes the checksum, then nothing is recorded.

These are the requirements for stat collections

If a mod that is not "ironman friendly" is enabled, stats collection will be disabled.
If any console command is used, collection will also be disabled.
If the save file being loaded or game data has been manipulated, it's also disabled
Stat collection will start to work again once the player starts a new save, after being disabled previously

To follow up on my answer above, cloud save disabling should prevent stats being stored there. We will also be adding an option to disable it independently.

Might add a checkbox on the sub splash screen to disable it as well, if someone doesn't want to see it anymore; i.e. in the corner you click it and it doesn't return, or allow to disable with a setting. It's pretty annoying, even to me, who otherwise is fine with the sub system, in the sense of "Yes, yes, I know the sub is there. I have all the DLCs, so please go away!!"

I guess, by definition, if they click the disable, or disable with the setting, that means they know of the existence of the sub program, right?

My career profile saved my stats when I played in offline mode. Does this mean that they're saved locally and not shared? Otherwise, I don't think disabling cloud saves actually disables the career profile stats tracking.

As far as I understand it (again, I will have to check this next week), the data is stored locally, yes. The cloud allows for your stats to 'follow' you if you switch devices.

You know, once upon a time, there were these things called "Demos" where you let players play a game (or with DLC content) for free, for an hour...
That would make infinitely more sense for your DLC, and wouldn't make you look like greedy pigs... You could easily make a few Tutorial Scenarios that focus on using the DLC content, or playing with a DLC nation. Your bottom line profit doesn't matter much when your community is jumping ship to avoid this nonsense.

Adopting the Subscription-Gaming Model is a gate-way to a lot greedier, scummier, and far less tolerable marketing practices that will drive this community to pirating.
Today, they allow us to play all the DLC if we have subscription. In a year, they'll hike the price of the new DLC so the subscription seems more worthwhile. In two years, new DLC will ONLY be available through subscriptions... and once everyone is on a subscription, Paradox can care even less about the quality of their new content...

Next thing we know, Paradox is as bad as Epic and EA...

As for the Career profile. It's a neat idea, but you should take that a step further. If we have a profile, you can give us the ability to save templates and designs to the profile, then load them in future games or in a main-menu editor. Between Tanks, Ships, and Templates, there is too much to do all the time. It kinda bogs down Multiplayer games. If we can save and load designs and templates, it would be your best quality of life improvement.
