Ok, so what is new about this expansion apart from some improvement? The game time frame is still confined to 1936-1948, no new techs or units. It just sounds like a major patch we have been waiting for all this time except that we have to pay in order to download it!

Really paradox... why is it not all in a patch for free: Working AI, Working theatre definition, Historical events blah blah, its just not any really new content to justify buying it, but i will HAVE to buy it because the AI is still a bit stupid after 1.4. At least it will include events and make the game a bit less like managing a slow moving spreadsheet for several hours. WHY OH WHY is it not free.

Brigades can now be upgraded to more advanced types (e.g. Infantry to Motorized, or Artillery to Self Propelled Artillery.)

Sorry to bother again, but will this be an optional upgrade or something that happens whenever IC points are put into the "upgrade" slider?

I ask only for the circumstances wherein artillery & infantry might be superior to their motorized counterparts... think supply issues, for one, or lack of fuel, for another. I understand that someone could just turn off upgrades on a unit, but you might want your Infantry or Artillery to keep upgrading w/out becoming motorized.

Otherwise, great addition! :)

Come on, while all these announcements (which oddly remind me of the initial hoi3 pre-release ads&teasers) will definitely improve the game (if they work!), this is hardly an expansion. Well call it that if you want but making us pay for it... bah.

This is nothing like the pre-release for HOI3. I knew it was coming out a year before and it just pained me so much to wait. Right now we don't have to wait more than a few months and we have a new patch to play around with until the expansion comes out. Honestly, I actually think I can be patient for the expansion as long as it comes out before July (I love how I have no school in summer!)

I am also a bit sceptic.

If (!) HoI3 is working proper and one can have fun with it after the expansion I am going to buy it.

I also belive that the questions raised why most of the expansion content was not in the original game or in the patches is legitimate.

Dont get me wrong I really like to see that HoI3 is brought to a proper level, but before shouting "Hurray" I like to see it. Thats all.

And again I will just ask, if someone can clarify - maybe I am missing it because I have not seen it *specifically* stated, but by fixing the OOB, with this new "drag and drop" feature, will that fix the problems of taking hours to set up army groups, with constant attaching, and re-working HQ divisions? That was something I found most tedious and frustrating in HOI3 vs HOI2, and I just want to make sure thats what the expansion means it will address.

Yes, the purpose of the OOB browser is to facilitate setting up your OOB.

Well I don't know of many companies that can keep patching a game indefinitely. At some point you need to turn some profit if you want to stay in business. Other companies would have stopped the patching at 1.3... HoI3 1.3 was stable enough... not the game of our dreams but good enough, they worked on another big patch where the majority of companies would have not.

The expansion looks a solid improvement... expanded time frame? new units? I mean come on... it's better to focus on the core game and improve it as much as possible before adding new content.

Concern from a steam customer:
When I buy it over steam, will I have the option to launch both products separately? Will I have another product in my steams list?
Maybe I want to play "vanilla" from time to time, that's why I ask.

Please don't make it so that Semper Fi overwrites the classic game.

I would like to see

1. possibility to have separate air and naval commands (with possibility of creating their own structure); of course still there should be possibility to attach naval and air units under land command structure.
2. Co-operation between ideologies - I would like to have possibility to simulate Allies with Communists pact (maybe possible only if both in war with Nazis)

and small thing - maybe Spanish Civil War even should provide something more to gameplay than only nice info screen :)

dont use steam ? I only had trouble with it, its far better to have several installation directories on your disk, so you can customize your game (mods or not, patch or not, etc.)

please, no "steam or no steam" discussion. I really love steam and I plan to stick with it, my steam accounts holds more than 50 games. I just want the option to play classic and Semper Fi, not only Semper Fi.

If it turns out to be impossible I might buy another copy at gamersgate.
