Operation Iberian Twilight
The war effort from 1951 to 1954 was slow and uneventful. The plan was to rebuild the submarine fleet and plan for an eventual invasion of Europe through the south since the north was still plagued by UoB naval forces. Reconnaissance planes were sent to fly over Iberia and Italy to find out the location of enemy troops and to reveal weaknesses in their defenses. To our surprise Italy was well fortified but all of Iberia seemed empty. No forces were detected on the beaches and reports also stated that Gibraltar, the gateway to Mediterranean that the Internationale had been using was empty of defenders.
A risky plan was crafted to ensure that taking Gibraltar would cost only few lives in case it would fail. The invasion was to be done by strategically dropped airborne troops led by Colonel Hans Bauer. They were to secure Gibraltar to allow amphibious assaults to take place without the carrier fleets of UoB entering Mediterranean, while submarine fleet subbed as Green Tide was to to harass the enemy on the Atlantic and to create a diversion while Green Boot flotilla was to hunt down any remaining Internationale navies in the Mediterranean and prevent them from intervening with the transports.
The plan was set in motion in September 15th and September 19th the troopers were deployed over Gibraltar.
Green Tide engaged enemies on the waters outside Portugal and dealt a heavy blow to the CoF naval forces. This made sure that the Operation Iberian Twilight was to be launched. Without any interference from Naval Forces Hans Bauer and his troops managed to secure Gibraltar and the transport fleets set sail from North Africa towards the Iberian peninsula.
Our intel was right, Iberia was empty (AI pls?) and Operation Iberian Twilight became a race against time. To reach the Pyrenees before the Commune could divert it's troops from the north and Russia to fight against us in Iberia, on their backyard. Our new tanks were deployed to steam roll through the Iberian country side with infantry following not far behind. The liberation of Europe had begun. But would it be successful? No one could know that. But if we could get the enemy in a stale mate around the Pyrenees we could buy time for India and Entente to breakthrough in Soviet Russia or for us to find a second front in the south. Possibly trough Italy.
