I can't even play this mod due to my 23 year old heir dying in child birth even though she has 10+ health and no diseases. I have also had 12 wives due to them all dying within 1-2 years. It only appears to be the women as well. Why is this happening?

I have not had this issue, my families tend to be too large, till the flue comes along, but that seems to be much weaker than it used to be, I play the SVN version, though I played 1.6 extensively, and don't remember anything similar. Wives do die in chiold birth, and it happened all the time before modern medicine.

Random roll of the dice. Even otherwise healthy women can die of childbirth, especially when you're chewing butterfly wings and mountain flowers instead of using modern medicine. Sometimes women have a nasty habit of dying young, sometimes 4/5 of your vassals take the Intrigue focus and murder/imprison/castrate all your favourite heirs just for practice.

Are you talking about the K. Flu? It only comes along once and a while, you just gotta accept the losses, though if you have a port, you can raise an army, put ur ruler, heir and 3rd in line in command, load them on a fleet and send them out to sea to wait it out. Spouses are easily replaceable.

If it's the Flu, I'd suggest trying to play as a mage, getting a priest with high learning on your council, and watching for disease outbreaks. If you see the clouds marking an epidemic moving toward your lands, check to see if it's the K. Flu. If it is, immediately have your priest start tending to the sick in your capital and fire off a disease resistance spell. depending on the priest's skill and the strength of your spell, you'll probably be lucky and have the Flu move past your capital without spreading to it..... Or you could play as an Argonian, they're immune to disease after all.

You can also go Cult of Peryite (SVN only), and get almost complete disease immunity in the capital via decision.

EDIT: Didn't realize you mentioned the spellbook too.
