My city is only 21,000 population and I'm already having trouble with garbage, deaths and industry not having enough workers. I really dont know what to do. I have 5 landfills around my city ( I'm currently trying to get that achievement where you fill 5 landfills ), a cementery in all 3 of my neighborhoods.

The only I can think of is that traffic is causing my hearses and garbage trucks to get to the cementaries/ landfills not to get there in time... but that shouldnt be happening because my biggest traffic issue is in my commercial district.

Does anybody know why my industry is all of the sudden being shut down because nobody wants to work there? Is it because of education?

Can somebody help me out here?

I would upload a screenshot but I dont know how to.

I upload my screenshots to https://imgur.com/ although you could also use the upload a file link on the add post box I believe.

Most of the time its because there is a traffic jam in a key zone in the city that is stopping vehicles getting where they are meant to go. Adding multiple routes can be a good idea although bear in mind that the AI will try to use the fastest route even though its a terrible idea.

I cant seem to find the photo I took from steam. Any idea where I can access it?

In Steam, with Cities Skylines selected, scroll to the bottom. There should be a button that says "View Screenshot Library". Click it.
A window should come up with screenshots in it. At the bottom should be a button marked "Show On Disk". Click it.
A Windows folder should open with the screenshots in it.

Yes. Click "Upload a File". Browse to the location of the screenshot. Select it. You will be given an option to make it a thumbnail or a full image.

Ok, so here is my city.

My industrial center is on the top left of the screen. Nearly every building has a shortage of workers.

My three neighborhoods are to the right of the industrial center, one is directly to the south and the 3rd one is a high density residential area at the very bottom of the map.

Really the only problem I have with deaths is the high density residential area and for some odd reason my commercial district. The garbage problem is pretty much universal except for the tiny industrial park near the bay.

What you refer to as the industrial center looks to be forestry, which primarily offers jobs for uneducated workers. Educated citizens look for jobs that match their education level, and only take lower level jobs if nothing else is available. This is likely one reason for the chronic shortage of workers.

Another thing is the overall layout of the city, which I would describe as bloated. Distances are long and make it hard for services to work efficiently, as well as for industry to deliver goods to commerce (the "not enough goods to sell" problem, combined with traffic issues). The city is also more expensive to maintain for this reason.

Well, then what do you suggest I do? I'm not going to scrap this city and start a new one, so that isn't an option. How do I fix my industry problem? Do I just de-specialize the forestry district and make it regular industry? And what about the garbage issue?

The garbage and dead people situation issue is probably the most pressing problem. People tend to move away if you don't fix that. It may be a traffic issue. If that is the case, then better connectivity can help with that. Five landfills should be plenty for the current size. You can experiment on your own, or google CS traffic management guides, there are a few good ones out there.

For industry, well, maybe do something, maybe do nothing. Sometimes if you ignore it and continue on it will fix itself (and yes sometimes it won't). For example, the forestry is for low education CIMs, but if many of your CIMs have not yet graduated school/too young, that is why they are not working, and will/may fill those jobs when they do graduate. One of many possibilities.

Your city has a healthy cash flow, you must be doing something right. I wouldn't worry too much. Experiment. :)

You don't have to start a new one, this isn't a lost cause or anything because you have a decent amount of money :) I would build a highway extension that goes through the empty space in the middle, in a more or less east-west direction (relative to the screenshot). This will take most industrial trucks off the six-lane roads because of the high speed it allows, as long as you'll link it to industrial areas properly. I'd also imagine it would improve service efficiency too.

Also, re-locating your generic industry closer to forestry helps a ton. Forestry only produces raw materials and ships it to generic industry for goods production, so right now there's a lot of back-and-forth industrial traffic through the city. This change would help commerce get their lumber related products quicker.

I predict your city center will form somewhere east of the forestry area if you start building more densely.

Hey guys, I think I need more help with my traffic. I posted a couple screenshots below.

The first one shows the new highway built. It's a poor job, but this is my real attempt at creating a highway to help with traffic.

The second one shows my biggest problem. I've tried everything to take the load off of that little area. The highway didnt seem to help. I'm beginning to think this is why I have had so much trouble with my garbage.... garbage is still a huge issue. Could you guys suggest how I can get more people to use my highway instead of that little stretch of road?

the motorway doesn't appear to connect anywhere, you need to add lots of entrances and exits to and from the motorway otherwise it will never be used, except for traffic that is just passing through, which will be a small percentage of your traffic.

Yeah, metacritical is correct. Each strip of highway road only goes in one direction, so you will need a separate entry and exit point for each of them to work properly. In the top right where the highway extension starts for example, you need a similar three way interchange to what you have in the far left. Same thing near the industrial area, though that doesn't necessarily need to be a highway to highway interchange (maybe highway to six-lane road).
