I think you underestimate the appeal to watch a stream/video in one's native language. Yes, it's not necessary, but it's very comfortable. I guess from a marketing standpoint it is better to offer tailor-made content instead of following the slogan "one size fits all". Also, are you aware that non-English youtube channels have already shown pre-release content of Paradox games several times? Your first edit sounds like that would be completely impossible because Paradox cannot control which kind of information they disclose.

There is a link to vids of this game. On march 16 Quill18 plays at least one. I also remember seeing another one with Quill18 and 2 other friends (no not Blorgs)

You are completely wrong. First of all, most people don't understand Russian and they would be left out in the dark. Also Paradox does actually control what they are allowed to show and especially when they are allowed to show it. It is called a NDA...

Maybe I misunderstood. But if I understood it correctly, it's definitely not true. Also, I haven't criticized Paradox for (apparently) not giving pre-release access to Russian or any other youtubers. I just disagree that non-English videos are pointless in the first place. Also, who cares if someone doesn't understand Russian or any other language? The video is obviously designed for people who understand the language. More generally spoken, why do internationally operating companies even bother to translate advertisements into different languages if it's so pointless?

Russia is a huge market, but english advertising is unappropriate here. Russians don't know english

That is really much. There is 16 million steam users here and monthly average is 700 th - 1.3 million

When Europe IV came out, PDX hadn't inserted neither unicode support, not russian localisation.

PS: Stellaris will be first Pdx game that is released with full russian localization by the Pdx themselves, without resorting to third party publishers. This kind off means that Pdx themselves are interestied in expansion in to russian speaking market.

But German vids aren't that bad, I'm dutch myself and I usually just watch English or occasionally a German vid, as far as I'm aware German language is the second largest on youtube, but that could also be because my searching words will probably end up showing me titles that are written in the Germanic language group, allthough I also sometimes come along Spanish vids.

I do understand that it's more appealing to mainly use English youtubers, because they have a wider audience, anyone searching for lets plays of this new game can probably understand English to such a degree that they could follow the vid. I don't really care because to me listening to English isn't that difficult, the same with German, I can understand both as well as my own language. Allthough I do understand for people that are unable to do so that a vid in their own language would be nice to have, however the release isn't that far away, so they won't have to wait that long for it.


edit: the communist guy that wants to come to somebodies home with an AK, wtf Stalin's inn? Stalin was probably worse than Hitler regarding mass murders and purges, it's only less known by the west.
