I have a sneaking suspension Kyros's gender is kept deliberately vague because Kyros is secretly actually the main character all along or we get to play as him/her in the next DLC. Dont Forget Kyros is an all powerful Over Lord who literally few to no one knows about. It would also explain why the main character has access to Kyros's powers. Kyros simply might have amnesia as part of his plans or the main character is a being of Kyros's own creation to succeed them being the newest incarnation of the Over Lord. Like a cloned copy more than a son or daughter. Perhaps Kyros even intends to mind jack the main character as part of their plans to rule eternally so made them in her/his image.

I also suspect that "graven ashe protects" started as a saying meaning that ashe would do anything in his power to minimise casualties

Well yes Myothis did say that power did not come until near the end of the Northern campaign.

I doubt that if you read Bladen Mark's short story from the Archon edition kyros is clearly a separate person.
