As an example. The Scotland/England border was not set in stone in 1066 and especially not in 867 so why not let say Northumbria have both Scotland and England as their dejure liege? Atleast in 867 when there was no England yet. The duchy of be striped of both colours in the dejure map.
Instead of having 100 years for a duchy/kingdom to turn dejure it could either be 100 years to turn dejure and then andother 100 years to remove the old dejure or we could split it to 50 years of each instead or regulate it by game rules.
The hope is that borders would be less static and that kingdoms have a back and forth over border territories. Since quite a few borders were not set in stone in either startdate i don't think it would be too weird.
