If not, it will probably not come out early August. Most games take at least a few weeks to come out after going gold.

I'm giving it until friday to go gold before I give up hope of an on time release. That's 2 weeks before the scheduled date, pretty hard to make hundreds of thousands of copies and ship them to tens of thousands of locations around the world in 2 weeks unless you have one badass publisher backing you up.
If this comes to pass, it would be a dark day for all HOI fans anxiously awaiting the game

I think it was November to January or something like that. Nothing terribly dramatic.
Though it was announced very close to the theoretical release date.
AFAIK that's the only Europa/Clausewitz engine game so far to not have been released on time, though? I think Paradox has a preference for patches versus moving release dates around.
Given that they're already announced shipping dates on here with fair amounts of detail, I think it's a pretty safe bet it'll come on August 7th.

I actually went back to the HOI2 forum archives. Other than hilarious threads with titles like "I won't buy HoI2 because Antarctica isn't in the game" and "Province X is wrong," I actually haven't found the actual press release on delay.

Actually, for the hell of it I went back to the HoI1 forum, to the mere nanoseconds after the Big Bang (i.e., the announcement of the game), and accidentally stumbled upon my own thread about oil.
Well, two observations - my spelling and grammar were even worse than they are now, and my suggestion that oil be used by units was laughed out of the room by sneering posters insisting that this was a strategic-level game and that they wouldn't stand for such a travesty (and that I should go play some other game). Oh how I wish I had a time machine now :rofl:

Paradox is known for significant post release work on their games. I'm not particularly worried about it, because they have a strong record of actually doing the required post release work.
Yeah, theyll patch the game right up until the release of the sequel is imminent.
I've always been impressed with the service, although I hate restarting my long running games every time I patch. This applys to patches in all games.
