Well I wasnt telling you to lose your doubts, but until you hear things officially then, you know what they say about assumptions.... being the mother of something or somesuch. Paradox will issue a statement if things get cancelled - like what happened to the ill-fated Magna Mundi.

So if anything Id wager that the extra time being spent on MP is probably alot of testing going, given Paradox's recent stance and movement towards quality assurance.

Meaningful QA is a great thing! So too are updates on timelines when deadlines are missed. Like others, I found the "end of the month" target to be surprising given the size of the (apparent) task. Paradox maintains multiple tweet accounts, facebook pages, and these forums. It doesn't seem like a status report/progress update would be that difficult to deliver.

Given the dark tone of some speculation (It's late?! OMG the game is doomed/we were lied too/PITCHFORKS!), I find it surprising there hasn't been some official word.

As for the gaming industry and multiplayer version. For turn based strategy games there was many polls done. The market study showed that it was less than 20% of players who bought the game who actually played the game multiplayer.
Aside the point you were making, but this is one of the only TBS games I've wanted to play online at all. Actually really looking forward to the next patch.

Out of curiosity has anyone played Majesty 2 MP recently? I'm guessing Warlock will use the same code, and I remember having a lot of connection problems when Majesty 2 first came out.

Why would you assume that? Any more than anyone would assume the same MP code from Diablo 2 would be used for Diablo 3? Different games, the march of time, different internet connection environment...

1. Maybe if there hasnt been any word, then there is no news to report.

2. Majesty 2 is a total different game so its not likely that the code will come from that. Maybe some of it will, mixed with a tad of experience from other projects - but I suspect alot of it will have to coded specifically for Warlock.

if the game is focused on SP why is the AI having so much flaws?
1) AI is hard. Most TBS have flawed AI's (see all civs for example) from the get-go, patches apply fixes, but they can never be as perfect as hoped for. The next patch should bring improvements hopefully, atleast disenchanting already sounds a great difference, and I doubt it's the only AI change.
2) Sadly, they aren't the best AI creators, as work on Majesty 2 had already shown. Which also required good AI for SP and MP really.

Hi all, sorry for the long wait. The update is ready, we are waiting for the localisation and should be able to patch the game in two-three next days. Anyway - tommorrow I want to put patchnotes on this forum for you to know what to expect from the update.

Posted Sunday (8 July) on the "Developer Notes" thread by Russian developer Alexey Kozyrev.

Since MultiPlayer was supposed to be included in that patch, we should have the MP feature in a few days.

The patchnotes, Monday, should clarify the situation.

The gamedevs do not post often, yes. That was the same with Majesty 2, which got around 4 DLC expansions...
Mostly because most of them do not speak english very well (which sadly enough, was also very apparent in those expansions)

One shall not use language barrier as an excuse. Customers do not care about ones language problems, or any other problems one might or might not have. They want promised things and they want it in time. This is capitalism!

Doesn't quite match with the desire for, say... Diablo III, Torchlight II, Half-Life (episode) III, Duke Nukem Forever... etc. etc. etc.
Not sure the point your trying to make with that list.

Diablo III - Got Delayed a few months. First they announced a very long delay then it turned out to be slightly shorter to the excitement of fans. In software it helps to over estimate your deadlines just in case. But through it all they kept customers informed months in advance changes in deadline.

Torchlight II - Diablo knock off. I trying the first one, it was meh, I figured the craze was just a bunch of people who craved the Diablo itch since it had been so long since a good hack n slash. Don't even bother following TII as I have zero interest.

Half-Life III - It's valve, I think this comic says it all.

Duke Nukem Forever - Umm yea a prime example of everything wrong mentioned above. They missed their deadlines repeatedly, didn't talk to their fans, and failed to deliver on promises. It was a massive failure that cost the companies involved lots of money.
