The devs originally announced that multiplayer would be implemented in august but then thought they could get it in by the end of june. Clearly that wasn't feasible but I'd say it is certainly still coming. Looking forward to it!

Beh, I still feel it's kinda cheap to release an unfinished game. I've been promised MP and I'll be megasad if it doesnt show up soon. Where are the posts from the devs, cant they just clarify some things? Everyone's just speculating

Its a good thing Darth Vader doesnt moderate this forum... He'd find your lack of faith disturbing.;)
I on the other hand appreciate as a gamer, that we do not want to be led up the garden path - so to speak.:)

Honestly Id just you for some patience and check back on the forums every day or so.

Yes yes, make them references. Yet the fact that a game is released without being fully developed yet makes me lack faith in the gaming industry indeed. DLC are different from this ofcourse. I honestly think that having released the Koatl dlc before the MP patch was a huge mistake, it's like saying the MP is just a bonus we're going to get.
But o well, me arguing about is isn't going to make it appear quicker.

Where are the devs, where are the official posts about patches and where the heck are there dates?

Well I can only assume that the Koatl DLC was already planned and easily completed to get released soon after game launch. As for the the devs replying, Im sure that when they have something to say they will.
And dates... well, not everyone works to deadline. Some just work to their own clock. Hopefully to make sure that what they create is as good as it can be.
Fingerscrossed eh!?!

Looking at the gamebalance, yes, I think it has been made primarily with SP in mind. Balance fixes and tweaks need to be made to get it workable for MP.
We'll see how drastic they'll be...

And of course non-MP players can look forward with the rest of us to the AI improvements...

Weird, I do not remember "contains multiplayer capability" on any box, review, demo, or even on a menu in game. If it was not promised then it is hard to blame them for it not being there.

As for the gaming industry and multiplayer version. For turn based strategy games there was many polls done. The market study showed that it was less than 20% of players who bought the game who actually played the game multiplayer. So game developers use that while making their games. By removing multiplayer for release they get more time they can spend elsewhere. After release they have the funds and time to work on a patch for the multiplayer. Fallen Enchantress is doing the same thing.

Somehow I do remember seeing it somewhere, idk where for sure. Anyway, 20% is still a big percentage of the community and should be heard. Funny how they PREMADE the koatl DLC even though it's a DLC and not a fundamental patch. They spend their time WHILST developing to release DLC, it's like delivering a not finished game yet. I don't like that about a company, I feel kinda milked as a customer this way.

everyone is entitled to their own opinion regarding MP, however I did see óne post about it from the devs. So it's bound to come nonetheless. The question stays, why is there no feedback from the devs?

Good point well made. I get the feeling that alot of the game design was focused on SP. Pity the AI wasnt as fleshed out as I hoped it would be. That said I certainly hope game traffic picks up after this coming patch so that they get the funds to continue developing the game in terms of features and content.

The gamedevs do not post often, yes. That was the same with Majesty 2, which got around 4 DLC expansions...
Mostly because most of them do not speak english very well (which sadly enough, was also very apparent in those expansions)

I´m a little uneasy about the continued silence. After less than two months after release the game has been offered at a bargain price - I wonder why...

Perhaps to generate more income? Get more people playing the game?

Maybe its just me, but there appears to be a lot of cynicism among some of you guys.

2Coats, you are not wrong, but thank you for your continued voice of reason.

The price has not gone down on Steam. If you are referring to the sale a short time ago, that was because Paradox did a sale on ALL their products so that automatically included Warlock. I agree it was a shame it came so soon after its initial release.

When one guy said they planned it for the end of the month I was very surprised to say the least. Not only are they attempting to add multiplayer, with all the new coding, balancing, interface and UI that that requires but he also mentioned they wanted to include the new Lords and artefacts patch with it. It wasn't that long ago when they asked if people wanted the Lords which suggests they hadn't been working on them long or at all prior to focusing on the initial post-release patches. So for the patch I presume they need to create the graphics, voices and sounds for the units, then give them balanced and varied tech trees/special abilities, plus work out how to integrate them in the game along with the artefacts which they will also have to create stats and images for aswell. Plus they wanted to add the scoring system which appears at the end of the game (I think). All these things plus normal bug fixes and balancing must take a small team an incredibly long time yet their last patch is dated 18th May, which isn't that long ago.

When the game was first released they estimated the multi-player patch would be ready in August, the only mistake Inco have made was that one message changing that date to the end of June (unless he meant August as he didn't actually say June and their English isn't great). Everyone had accepted August so if the patch came then then people would have been fine with that as that was "the plan" from the get go and was not a secret; had it been ready before then then everyone would have been pleasantly surprised.

So in summary, yes Inco could have handled it better, BUT, considering everything they are trying to put in the next patch I can't but feel a little more patience from some quarters wouldn't go amiss. I am also waiting for the patch before playing again and am looking forward to the multi-player but exaggeration things on the message boards isn't going to help things for anyone I'm afraid.
Peace

I wasn´t actually complaining. It´s more like... I really like this game and I want it to be successful, so it will be continued, improved, expanded. It´s just a little fear that it might not go on. But from now on I´m trying to be patient :)

Well I wasnt telling you to lose your doubts, but until you hear things officially then, you know what they say about assumptions.... being the mother of something or somesuch. Paradox will issue a statement if things get cancelled - like what happened to the ill-fated Magna Mundi.

So if anything Id wager that the extra time being spent on MP is probably alot of testing going, given Paradox's recent stance and movement towards quality assurance.
