The tech tree has been completely reworked. It's not simply a matter of adding new techs. Some techs may have the same name, but different bonuses and effects. And some techs has completely new bonuses/effects introduced by DH (engine changes).

I mean stuff without an alternative. Not like the techtree, which is not gone, but just much different. I mean, are there features AoD has that DH will miss? Maybe for a certain reason?

Unfortunately many features seem to be missing. For instance there are no money sliders like the ones introduced in AoD (military expenditure) etc.

I think we can only answer that once all the Dev Diaries are done. I am interested if the production management is the same as in AOD, retooling and upgrading existing production lines. As I do not think this is covered yet and we have some more Dev Diaries to go I think we need to wait until they are done.

But if you own AOD I think you will be able to tell what is different. Things like Decisions are not in AOD so there is at least one thing I can think of off the top of my head.

AFAIK in DH you can't speed up the production like in AoD nor can you upgrade the line until the current item in production is finished.

EDIT: Oh and there are no advanced sliders. Just an expanded version of the HoI2-like tab where you can tell the slider AI to prioritize each slider - very clumsy and inferior to AoD's adv. sliders.

Nope, but when they do make a DD about this you'll find out that I was correct. ;) Unless they've taken note of the criticism and changed this by then, which I doubt.

EDIT: And does it really matter? The point is that DH will at this rate be missing excellent features that AoD created simply because of the so called "different design philosophy" where they intentionally avoid to include features from AoD. *facepalm*

No, I believe the way some of you are looking at this is quite childish. First, it was Paradox's fault that the dev teams didn't cooperate (didn't even know of each other's existence, apparently). Second, DH can't simply take all of the features from AoD and place them in their game without permission, there's this thing called copyright.

I think FT said somewhere that they will base DH on a different design philosophy to that of AoD and won't be including some features from AoD. I don't remember the exact words so I may be slightly off.

I can understand their decision regarding AoD's arty bombardment but innovations like speeding up the prod, retooling, expenditure sliders, advanced sliders etc. are both great and realistic at the same time and should be included one way or another.

I believe the myth about them not knowing of each other has already been stated to be false by several devs from either AoD or DH. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong though.

Since when did copyright have anything to do with features in a game?? And even if it does, they don't have to literally copy them (exact code etc. aka copy+paste), they can imitate them. Though I'm fairly sure they could get permission anyway.

I`m quite sure there are going to be many features I`m gonna miss from AoD while playing DH, and the opposite. For me it will come down to the playability of the game, the amount of bugs, presence of any game-breakers and the AI that will decide my favorite. Since AoD was released considerable amount of time and patches earlier I`m expecting it to lead in those categories, yet DH will surely catch my attention with World War I scenario.

Doesn't it prevent directly copying features from other games? And I might be wrong about them not knowing about each other, but that's what I've heard anyway.
