I am wondering if anyone has done it, what is the best strategy and is it worth it?

On the Wiki It says:

Entice GovernorConvinces a foreign governor to join the current country, taking neighbouring provinces in their governorship with them and significantly angering their former owner. Costs 20 aggressive expansion, and can only be used if the governor has less than 40 loyalty, is a friend of the ruler, and a neighbouring province in their governorship has 50 province loyalty or less.

In game when you select a governor from a region in another country you can see the button: Entice Governor

It does not say in this tool tip that it has to be friend with your ruler, I can confirm It is a requirement as the Wiki says because I have tried. However, the additional requirement of province loyalty being 50 or less I did not see it.

When it says areas, if it is the province it could be quite powerful but difficult to trigger. For example, these are the neighboring adjacent provinces in my current game:

Thank you.

It is a tactic that I use a lot, the key is to do it at the exact moment.

There are two factors, the loyalty of the province and the loyalty of the governor.

The trick is as follows:

1-Influence disloyalty in the governor.
2-Wait for the loyalty of the province to drop below 40.
3-Make friends with the governor and convince him.

* This is very important to do only when the loyalty of the province is less than 40, if you do it before the AI will change the governor you will have lost time and resources.

* This only affects the province, if you want to take the entire region you will have to wait for all the provinces to be less than 40

I think i addition to govenor loyality the pronvince loyality needs to be below 40 or something maybe less

Edit: I just saw you mentioned this.

anyway i did achieve it as sidon with the govenor of syria belonging to egypt. you can basically only achieve it with very rebellious provinces and really only get adjacent provinces. problem most of the time is that the govenor gets replaced as soon as he is illoyal so you cant consistently decrease province loyality

I've enticed governors once or twice, transfer subject is easier to do. You have to really pay attention though because they're usually swapped out quite quickly.

Ive never been able to achieve it

Neither "Transfer subject" option
for transfer subject, I don't know what can I do to make the subject unloyal to its overlord. It is a matter of waiting. Can we put the country loyalty on the sidebar as characters?

The only place I've had any repeatable meaningful success (2 of 2 successes) is against Bactria while playing a Himalayan nation. The culture & religion of Sogdiana are wrong/wrong meaning the province loyalty will dip quickly in the early game and the governors will become disloyal as there's a lot of powerbase relative to the Bactrian capital region of Bactriana.

By my best recollection I've taken the whole of the green outlined area with 2 entice governors.
EnticeGovernor.png

I suppose the same could be done elsewhere as well. My aggregate STEAM counter (which includes idle time) reads 4200+ hours. I look every now and again but I haven't had much success finding targets relative to cost versus reward. Edit: Most of the governors I'd like to entice aren't actionable due to their own loyalty, high provincial loyalty, or the inability to entice governor in capital region provinces (as you cannot entice the king/consul).

Thank you.
If you read my story of this topic: https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/threads/tell-us-your-story-sept-24-oct-1.1427012/ you must have seen that it is possible to do this but it is not easy
And finally I win an entire province without having to spill blood using my "cunning" making friends with a neighboring ruler in Maurya ( well though I was inspiring disloyalty for a LONG time in the region's governor )
20200926153458_1.jpg 20200926153451_1.jpg 20200926153516_1.jpg
The only possible way to do this is that if the province has the wrong culture and religion this causes the unrest to increase and strangely the governor starts to become more disloyal over time and easier in areas where the province is not complete with all his territories ( example part of territories with another country )

Furthermore, until today I expect a position on the topic: https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/threads/tell-us-your-story-sept-24-oct-1.1427012/
I wonder if @Arheo remembers him and the "Mysterious Award" and the "We will contact you individually"

Who knows, there might even be prizes for the best story!
That's a wrap, friends!

Thank you all for participating! We will be contacting each of you individually and thank you again for the hard work.

Same for me. I recently decided to do a quick game in the Himalayas and was able to entice disloyalty in the same place.

I have done it before and it's rarely worth the effort. It requires a lot of babysitting, the AI likes to swap out governors if it thinks they're getting too disloyal, and 20 AE is a massive penalty for a province or two.

It might be worthwhile against a giant enemy where fighting a war is prohibitive, or against someone with a truce, but unless this patch changed things I wouldn't bother.
