Question is in the title. Has anyone seen an answer? Or better yet, seen the ai sortie? does it need high level forts?
Ok so I set GARRISON_SIZE to 20000 in defines.lua and started a game as france, I then sent 1k cav to normandy a level 3 fort with a garrison of 60000, and deleted all my other troops and my vassals, the english did not sortie.
I presume this means either that number is so big the ai thinks I'm joking, or it doesn't sortie (or it's really really bad at calculating the odds of success). I also set the price of sortie to 1 mil point in the vague hope that that might encourage them.
OK, obviously something doesn't work out in the AI calculation. Or a missing command line prevent the AI to use this option at all.
It's probably similar to co-belligerents. The AI is probably not capable of using it well without the player baiting it into insta-occupations (or just easy assaults) and/or burning all of its military power and then spanking it like a joke a few years later because it's behind in tech.
I -thought- I encountered an AI sortie from Malacca when I had their last province under siege (the other one was occupied). Three thousand Malaccans from nowhere made an absolute mess of my siege stack. I can only presume the AI even timed the sortie with a unit spawn since it was a Level 2 Fort.
Some kind of confirmation or denial would be much appreciated.
