Try playing Epirus, everybody wants to kill you right from the start

I am guessing the hardest major power to play as, is Rome. There is carthage and barbarians who seem to never give up in their conquest to kill you.

Out of the Big 5 I would agree Rome is the hardest. You're stuck in the middle, gotta worry about cutting off Macedon's expansion in the east, plus Carthage's deadly threat in the west. And the hordes in Europe are always coming.

Epirus seems to be the hardest. If I survive against Rome, I can take Carthage's islands after they war with the Egyptians. Although, I can't win because they are never willing to sign anything more than a white peace and my military can't match theirs with only two provinces.

I don't find Rome hard to play at all. All you have to do is to gain sea superiority over Carthage and after that just block them in Africa while you take their islands and Spain. You can afford to keep a big army in Italy to hold off barbarians or simply let them die in attrition and pick them like fruits. After Carthage is down there really isn't much stopping your world conquest.

I'd say Seleucids are the hardest of the big 5. The empire is falling into pieces and it is some what hard to keep all the provinces in your control. Later on the game the story is different of course.

I conquer Carthage but they refuese to give up any provinces after I own all the Islands.

I'd say the Seleucids are the easiest. Easier then anything history should tell you.

I playing with Macedonia they are realy good. I conquer all of the greece besides Epirus and Sparta, Pannonia, Quadi and a lot of barbarian provinces and my biggest triumph is against Seleucid empire! I conquered all of their provinces in Turkey and now I regrouping army to do what Alexander the Great did! That is my goal!

When did this topic become about Rome? I thought the topic was about the hardest countries to play. As Rome it is easy to steam roll other nations because you own 6-7 good provinces at the beginning. It is the one province minors that are wedged between Carthage and Rome who have almost no hope. I like the challenge of the minors, but sometimes feel certain ones are doomed to fail, no matter how you play them. :(
