I don't think some of you will be happy until half of the city is rioting and the other half is on fire at which point you'll finally admit that running a city is hard. :)

The instant someone makes a riots mod I will install it. I really want to make a slum town that is ravaged by crime, but right now crime is too easy to deal with.

Riots would be nice, very nice.

One thing they need to do though is make jails and prisons to store the criminals. And possibility of over crowding early release and escapes.

They need to deepen the crime system.

really though if my city was rioting burning down (with fires spreading) and criminals running wild allover and over populated jails i would be the happiest gamer ever.

Don't forget a blizzard on top of all that or hopefully an earthquake or flood. would be icing on the cake. Could one be so bold to ask for a nuclear meltdown?

I really hope they add some of this.

I think CO has gone the right path. Making the game easier for normal people (read: noob) to get into the game.

Even with the current difficulty level, there are still people having difficulties in the game (see some of the threads in the forum/reddit).

I think hard mode is really something should be done by mod only (or maybe a hard mode DLC haha)

There is definitely an overseas view on the criminal justice system going on in this game. Are jails/prisons even in the game? I haven't played deep enough to find out and don't recall seeing one buried in the game menus anywhere.

Good game but way too easy, so easy I'm already kinda bored of it. I don't have a big city, only around 18000 citizen but since there is not much of a challenge I just don't feel the appeal anymore. I have no poor people, crime and health is all good. The economy is great.
Even when I tried creating poorer district by building houses near power plants with no services these people are still living in bliss and getting highly educated. Well, it just seems the game is missing the challenging aspect of being a game.

Yeah, the problem with education is that people will travel across the map to get to school if necessary. And with local schools being a requirement to level up industrial and commercial zones, the only way to keep some workers uneducated is to have no education at all. Basically it means that the favored (and easy) way to play the game is to educate everyone and just ignore industrial zones after you unlock offices, which is kinda boring.

No that's why i said they need jails and prisons... they are not in the game and they need to be. There needs be jails with a capacity and consequences for overcrowding.

The problem is that crime is nonexistent with proper education, meaning that crime just isn't a challenge at all right now.

Beside hard mode mod, there is the Slow Speed mod. It makes peds and vehicles move at more realistic speed (as by default, they go way too fast IMHO, especially peds).

Not only it looks more realistic, but slower trucks means slower goods/resources delivery. I activated it on my town and after a few minutes, I had my old fully functional oil power plant shut down due to oil not delivered in time! Was fun... well, that's only the first side effects I've yet to see, I expect others as well.

Looking at vehicles engaging on highway with realistic acceleration (and disengaging with realistic deceleration) is a real pleasure too! I highly recommend this.

The main problem is that the API is too limited on this aspect right now. There are only 4 properties really available for modification right now and none of them make a particularly large impact. (Construction cost, maintenance cost, relocation cost, and refund cost)

Demand can also be modified but I think that is boring. It just makes you have to wait longer to progress, not really making anything more difficult.

Couple things CO needs to tweak from what I have experiencing and read.

1. Cause unhappiness from workers not getting to their jobs/or in a timely manner.
2. Fix the parks so they stop killing commercial demand.
3. Slow the speed walkers down. Vehicles don't seem so bad but could probably slow down a notch or two, oh and the suspensions as they all seem about to roll over.
4. Create a method to place scale farms because right now the farms just look like yellow colored suburbs. I'd rather place one large industry type that demands lots of jobs, water, electricity etc. then the current situation.
5. Make crime a bigger problem with an impact on land value.

I think #1, #3 and #5 will kick the difficulty up somewhat.

Good points!

I also think the education system needs to be seriously revamped, making it genuinely a challenge to fully educate a city.

Agreed on education. I think part of that problem is that when you place the building you can see the happiness circle but once the building is placed it only cares about # of CIMs it can educate and just looks at the map as a whole. I don't think travel time is taken into account for this either? Similar to how the whole worker/industry thing is done. IF that is the case I'd like to see the same mechanic where if they can't reach a school in a timely manner they'd become unhappy.

This is all based on assumption of course as I truly don't know how the mechanic really works.

Just wanted to comment that I'm still seeing a lot of feedback that the game is extremely easy. If not any official difficulty levels, is anyone planning a more balanced difficulty mod? I've seen at least one other hard mod, but not a well-done one yet. And the current hard mode mod takes the game from "very easy" to easy".
