(This is my first try at an AAR. I'm using GC 1.09.)
Part I: Jan 1492 - May 1498
In January of 1492, a new leader came to the throne of the Hanseatic League. He was determined to make the Hanseatic League a major power, and vowed that he would not retire as king until that happened. His first order of business was to protect the kingdom from P-L on the East. If they attacked us, they could wipe us off the planet. So, we begin building level 2 fortresses in all territories, and begin building armies.
In March, we get a monoply in Holstien CoT. This will be of great help to our economic sector.
In April, our king decided to take a more diplomatic plan with dealing with P-L and other nobles. In April, the king marries off his own daughter to a rich P-L noble. Then, in July, we create an Alliance with P-L. In October, Hessen joins our alliance.
In January '93, our plan of making level 2 fortresses is complete. We begin prmoting all baliffs to tax collectors to make more money.
We continue with our diplomatic plan. In March, we create a Royal Marriage with Hessen. In July, Hannover joins our alliance, and we create a Marriage with them in August. Then, in October, our alliance draws us into war against Kazan. We sign a seperate peace treaty with Kazan in January 1494.
In Febuary of 1494, all territories have tax collectors, to help our economy.
Then, in March, our King decides to conquer new territory. He masses troops on our border with Brandenburg. In May, we get reports that the P-L - Kazan war is over. Then in November, we declare war on Brandenburg, after massing 50,000 soldiers on their borders. All of our allies join. In Febuary of 1495, 3 months after war began, we capture the provence of Brandenburg. Their other 2 territories are harder to capture. Sieges continue.
Finally, in March 1496, we capture Kustrin. Then, in May, Magdeburg falls. In June, we annex them, and begin building level 2 fortresses and tax collectors. We had to take out a loan to do this. Our war with them cost over 40,000 lives.
In the beginning of 1497, There are several revolts in Kustrin, but they were stopped by our remaining soldiers. In September, we put a Trade embargo with Denmark, because they were starting to take profits away from us at Holstein. In may of 1498, we repeal the embargo because they have no more traders there. Our king then takes a well deserved rest.
