Is it me, or is Byzantium a vassal of the Ottomans that the Paradox devs are playing?

Hordes are gamebreaking for whole europe, because they either fall quickly(in earlier patches) or reach vienna, and sometimes even conquer it - or get conquered by HRE, making it totaly flawed and unhistorical mechanism. They screw up whole eastern europe, and are one of the reasons why russia almost never forms in single player. They allways make ottoman empire fail in long term, and are most unbalanced and bugged game mechanism i know. This is first thing.
In case you have not noted, Hordes did screw up eastern Europe in 1200s, and No, Muscowy/Russia is not entitled to existence.
Also, Timurids did screw up Middle-east IRL.

Timurids did not conquered egypt nor turkey. Timur died very quickly after start date... Golden horde fallen into many states in like 20-30 years, and did not annexed moscow - actualy lost war of succesion to timur...

And ingame, turkey allways get stomped by GH and timur at the same time for me. Unless i play multiplayer, with tukrey being player - and if there is no poland they still have big problems with GH and Timurids, up to 1500. Sometimes it still happens with poland being around.

Huh, i like roleplay in roleplay games, i tend to keep to realpolitik in political games...

Though quill18 opts to play differently which was what he said in his last post.

Also, is it really that "realpolitik" would NOT be roleplay? Presumably, rather than mathematically min/maxing you would pick choices that were politically practical, and while this would generally not be prestige focused (like quill's roleplay of a prestige-centric ruler), it would not be cold, mechanical math based strictly on the parameters of the game. If you're playing by the math, that's perfectly valid, but I wouldn't call it realpolitik.

I think, roleplay is more realpolitik than optimizing game mechanism.

Right, it's min-maxxing in the role of the actual ruler, not game mechanics. Though, wouldn't a true Realpolitik ruler min-max the game mechanics?

New series as Timurids are up. :)

Do note that this is not a Let's Play. The game mostly serves as a backdrop to introduce the mechanics to new players.

Also, don't play the Timurids like I do. It's not healthy. :)

The amount of fail that was that play that was that gameplay was hilarious.:p That said, I do think you had the correct idea in rushing to Delhi right away. Once you form the Mughal empire you can tech up much quicker and save ton of monarch points that way, so it makes sense to go there as soon as possible. The only thing I think you should have done better is waiting to stabilizes a bit first (just +1 might have been enough). Also, you really shouldn't have cracked down on that religious rebels. You should take plus on heathen/heretic tolerance instead, as it would have saved you trouble with the revels.
