Hi,

I am King of Asturias, it is past 800 and the Umayyads expanded the coast of Biscay at the cost of Francia. I am planning to start the Reconqista to roll them back. I do know that alliances with Francia, Italy or Byzantium are a big help. I still have a few questions:

- how accurate is the levy site at a foreign ruler's profile?
- is the Reconquista decision worth the investment? I currently have around 1000 ducats and was planning to hire two bands of mercenaries.
- what is the best CB for this? Holy wars might lead to other muslim rulers to join, my de jure CBs allow only taking single counties. The former seems to be very unefficient. Is there a better CB?

The Reconquista decision has a couple of major advantages:
  • It provides you with a series of events where you can pay some money to recruit event troops, or some piety to gain gold. Think of them as similar to the Viking invasion events.
  • The war targets multiple duchies at the same time. It's not exactly a Kingdom level CB, but it's close (generally 2-3 duchies).
In addition, they are less likely to draw in half of the Muslim world. If you can qualify for one, it's absolutely worth doing.

If you only have about 1000 gold saved up, you don't have enough to hire mercenaries for a big war. You want to have at least 2000, and preferably something more like 5000+.
