Hi,

I would be really happy if this game had any handicap options in hot seat mode to even chances between players. I like to play with my GF and unfortunately she is not as experienced player as I am and without them games tend to be too one sided and thus boring or frustrating.
In AoW3 there was an option in debug mode to launch cheat console so I could give her a couple of free techs at the beginning, in Planetfall there is no option to launch a console when there is more than one human player.
Shame that despite that there is an option to set up fixed teams and players without team in one game, the diplomacy is locked. If not I would give her an AI ally. (IMO diplomacy should be locked between allies in one team and between different teams. But teamless players should be able to interact normaly with teams and themselves.)

Please devs, consider to add some options to even the gameplay in your fantastic game.
Best regards

Definitely feel you there, I've played with some friends who are fairly inexperienced and I feel they'd do better by getting some handicap options, otherwise all I can do is play more casually and have easy AI, but I feel handicap is a better option. Other option is ofcourse to go team based, putting me and my friend in the same team and whilst that is really fun doing a coop playthrough, it's a shame missing out on the diplomacy side and FFA.

Only thing I can think of to approximate a handicap is to make a custom leader that has a vice and doesn't spend his character points on anything. (or at least spends a lesser amount of character points.) Then you get, say, -10% research and you don't get any bonuses. That's a handicap.

Or you could do something like, say, agree to dismiss half your starting army.

I imagine it could be possible to mod additional vices for leaders with bigger penalties to act as "handicaps." No clue how to do that though.
