Is anyone else seeing this ever since Reaper's Due came out? I am not exaggerating. Literally over half the rulers or their spouses in the world have either both these traits or one of them. Is it the new events causing this? I have been simming a few games and the result is always the same about 80 years in when I stop and look at characters. I can't be the only person experiencing this right? Also maybe its just me but cancer seems to be the number one cause of death now in game. I want to edit these events to tone it down a quite a bit.

EDIT: Would anyone like some screenshots of ridiculous amounts of people with lunatic traits?

Not seeing it as much as some people claim to have. I've noticed an uptick but nothing too bad. My dynasty still has its sanity at least though our once liege, Karloman Karling, became a crazy cannibal.

Since Great Pox now causes lunacy (I think), and Great Pox is all over the freaking place, you'll notice lunacy on the rise.

It´s less prevalent if seduction is off. Fewer people with Great Pox make fewer lunatics.

It is an interesting question as to how widespread lunacy actually was in the middle ages considering factors like lead poisoning etc. Any historians around here who can give us an assessment about this issue?

I have seduction off and it still seems like a whole lot of possessed/lunatic. It's even worse because I'm playing with cpr+ and the possessed and lunatic faces are CRAZY looking! So it's extremely noticeable for me

I'm not a historian but a reasonable guess would be that mental disorders were as prevelant as they are in modern times. But it's hard to tell 100% because there probably isn't any significant data one way or the other, so we just have to presume that basic biology/psychology of humans has not changed. It would make some intuitive sense if the figures were actually higher due to enviromental factors and that the effects of mental illness were more severe given that they didn't know how to treat them properly(by modern standards anyway), but again. I doubt there is enough reliable data to really tell.

Lunacy as depicted in CK2, is a comical caricature of a vastly more complex reality, and it's impossible to have any supposition about mental illness in the Middle Ages. Some historians pretend that lead poisoning is the cause of the fall of Rome, but some scientists pretend that for half of the 20th century, lead-poisoning through gazoline fumes are a source of the violence in the 20th century, so...
