Half-bankrupt AI is too keen on destroying ALL of their forts.

I've been playing with the beta patch and I've noticed that once you beat the crap out of the AI, to save on money they remove ALL of their forts. This happened to me after I invaded the Mamluks as the Ottomans (Aleppo, Damascus, even Cairo had no fort), and then Castile did the same, promptly rebuilding a shit ton of them later.

Seems like a huge waste to destroy forts to then spend thousands of ducats building them anew.

You should make a post in the bug report forum and attach a save. This is the kind of thing the devs will be very keen on fixing before the full release of 1.33, and your save might offer them a valuable case study.

It’s a conundrum. A fort costs its construction cost in maintenance in less than 2 decades. So if you’re not going to be needing the forts in the immediate future, deleting and rebuilding them makes sense. Deleting your forts is almost certainly better than going bankrupt too. And the devs just made a big effort to stop the AI from mothballing because it’s so exploitable. I agree this is worth bringing to the devs’ attention with a save, but I wonder if it’s actually working as intended.

I've found the total opposite. Multiple vassals that are well fed with religious conversions from me chain bankruptcies because they refuse to delete the 15 ducats a month they spend in forts.
