It seems that some people are marrying very well, expanding their realm much like the old Habsburgs did... Since I'm having some trouble getting the right wives I would be much obliged by any hints on how to catch someone with huge tracts of... land. :)

Go for Gro or Ingrid of the King od Denemarks court of for Zavlava or what ever her name is spelt from the Bohemian Dukes Court, also in the King ofd Argoons Court thiers a female thier she looks like a Pig but she had good atsts shes around 24, cant quite remember her name now lol.

Those are the ones that I found ahd good stats all round, as for you trying to get huge tracts of land threw marriage,. thats extreamly unlikely, only way you can get land threw peace time is threw Inheritance from a reletive like your father or maybe brother pending whgat Inheritance Law's they have.

I don't have the game yet, but aren't all heirs/children after the initial starting setup of the scenario at least somewhat randomized? So a "marriage guide" for the game would only be applicable to the starting set of marriage possibilities, and not necessarily for the rest of the scenario, right?

Forgive me if I've misunderstood.

Basically, a realm that uses any semisalic law and whose ruler has only girls is possible to inherit.

For example, in 1066, Duchy of Poitou always makes for an easy grab. Semisalic primogeniture, one 13-14 year old daughter and new childs are not likely (haven't ever seen the starting duke manage to make anything other than bastards by events).

Just marry your starting ruler to the daughter (Agnes?) when she reaches the age and the oldest son from that marriage will inherit quarter of France.

Of course, another good method is to find the heir, and, if he's unmarried and does not possess land of his own, to marry one of your female courtiers off to him, drawing him to your court, then give him an equivalent rank to what he'll inherit (Count if he's inheriting a county and you are a Duke, Duke if he's inheriting a duchy and you are a King, and if he's inheriting a Kingdom, don't bother). Sure, it won't pass directly into your dynasty's control, but he should remain a vassal to you upon inheriting the lands in question - I'm doing this to Hungary with the Duchy of Varna right now to slowly march up the Danube, since I don't want to do too much pagan bashing.

remember that males pass their dynasty name along with their children, so if you have a courtier with many claims from a different dynasty it's impossible to ever get those claims - in theory there's a way but this is virtually impossible,

marrying your daughters off to other courts causes the children of your daughter to be of another dynasty - or you should look for "diaspora" from your own court and hope their inheritance laws have been in your favour. In my current game, the Yfuldings are controlling 3 houses in Netherlands and Normandy. So that's bad also, a female never inherits claims,

so your sons AND coutriers are the most valuable assets, marrying them off to other courts plants a root for your dynasty there and in the end they might get some tytles as count etc, then it's more possible to take those claims in,

in my experience daughters are not much of use, altough my feeling is that have better stats compared to man ;) ... in the game off course,

I don't like this tactic, because you'll give other dynasties power in your realm,

in my last game 3 contries were controlled by Yfulding dynasties

Thanks for the good advince, unfortunately it seems rather difficult to expand by marriage. :(
