The war is upon us, and Karl leaves alsace for the front, together with 1k cavalry. The armies on the Austro-Turkish front are:
Hungarian army: only cavalry in the plains
Balkan army: infantry for the mountains.

Karl takes control of whoever is closer to the enemy or more probable to enter a battle.

However, the empire is big, and such a war has no impact on our thriving economy:

a6.jpg

Here we have a view of the Polish front, where the technologically backwards Poles put up a great fight, with numbers making up for their low tech level(LT 13) The Ottomans get a bit greedy and we take Krain and IStria from them.

more pictures:

The last peace offer is taken. We gain two provinces from a superior enemy. Time to party, i'd say!!!

must be some AGCEEP events, that make them inherit a few Turkish minors and gets them started. But, nevertheless, their size now really IS amazing.

I too have never seen them quite so big, and my stupid luck has it exactly when i am playing as Austria.

You are not moving too fast at all. Many pictures with sparse text makes for an easily read AAR yet full of information. Keep it coming. I'm lovin' it!

part 17: fratricidal war (1592-1603)

Only Centralisation needs to be improved, my other DPs are perfect.

When i saw Aragon take the German province of Oldenburg from France, i decided to go to war against them. Upon careful inspection of their alliance, i realized i had MA from all of them (except Oman - a catholic rebel from portugal), but a CB only on Spain. Preparations started for the war, after i reached CRT superiority.

aa1.jpg

A picture is worth 1k words:

aa2.jpg

The DOW and the initial battles:

aa3.jpg

The Pope's armies were actually a very tough nut to crack. Switzerland fell first, overwhelmed by sheer austrian numbers. Maps to the world were discovered after sacking Madrid. Galleys rule!

aa4.jpg

Papal States are our vassals now, and Spain refuses peace for MA, Toledo and Andalusia.

aa5.jpg

However, i fear a government collapse if i stabhit, so i offer something less...
Switzerland and Papal States join the alliance, waiting to be annexed...

aa6.jpg

some rather nasty events:

Poland is still your vassal, right?

Yes, Poland, Venice, Switzerland and Papal States are all my vassals and allies. Next session will be all about diplo-annexing 3 of them, and building manus.

Thats all i am going to do until 1619. then von MERcy, Wallenstein, and Pappenheim will go to war.

So i launch a poll: to all my readers: who should i DOW in 1619?

DoW France! :D

I have alreafy played up to 1619, and i have racked up some inflation, but i have built 17 manus(if i remember correctly): one FAA, the rest refineries and weapons manus. CoTs over the world are monopolized, some countries are embargoing me.

Waiting for BB to drop before i can diploannex Poland seems impossible, so i think i would have to annex Poland now, triggering BB wars.

Now this is a possibility, but some may not like continuos warfare.

Whoever wants to help me make up my mind, write a post answering 2 of my questions:

1. who to DOW next session (in 1619)

and

2. should i annex Poland?

Thank you all, there would be no AAR without the readers!

I say the French have now what is rightfully yours: Luxembourg. It's German. It should be a part of Austria. :D Was there no opportunity btw, to do a quick diplovassalization on France while they were small?
