I would really have to disagree, watch the you tube video that was posted. It seemed they served as mercenaries to not just the Byzantines but also the Seljuks during wars in Afghanistan/India. Being the new DLC will be all about India they seem like a perfect fit.
And how would you play them?

That's it though, the sources it presents. It is pretty easy to remove sourced information from Wikipedia, to erroneously include poor-quality information, and to deliberately present only one side of the facts.

well for this we have changes history and many otehrs with different view on that event so they add other side of view/informantins.

I really don't know if there's anything worse than watching someone continue to use a racist term even after it's been pointed out to them how offensive it is. It's one thing to use it without thinking/knowing. But no one can continue to claim ignorance at this point. Please just stop.

and why word gypsi is racist ? only because you say so ?

I britain we have two types of Gypsies, Roma and Irish Travelers, the latter being the majority, the Term Gypsiy isn't used that much (unless someone is complaining about them) because we have these two groups. We either use Romani or Travelers.

That reminds me of the situation when, as a non-native english speaker, I wanted to learn if it's okay to call some group of people "black" (basing on their skin color). It turned out that there is no bloody rule, and that in theory some people might get offended somewhere, it seems that in general people don't mind at all.
well, i totaly fail to see why anyone can have problem using with word "black" to describe blackmen, if anyone see it offensive.., well in that same manner he must view using word of "white" .

AndreiTLC if you have access to Jsotr I invite you to find quotes in this that support your argument, I'm not in uni anymore there for can't open it. Getting back on topic I think the best way to have them in game would be a mix. At some point in the 10 century the Byzantine player gets a notification of something like "warriors from the east offer service" Then the byzantine player has them as mercenaries called something like "Romani band" as long as the empire is doing well. If things go badly for the Byzantines and they lose to much land then the player loses the unit which an event that says "romani people flee the empire."

yes, temporary mercs...propably onlyest way how to put gypssi in game, and mayby few flavor event how you will deal with fleed gipys in other parts of europe.
