This is about alternate history after all, who knows - if things had run differently, they might have settled somewhere, like other nomadic people did. After all, they claimt to have a strong claim on Egypt, thus, if there was a successful crusade for Egypt, the Gypsie King should become landed.

well, that egypt claim was big lie, not sure if intention was "look at us, we are like a jews expeled from thier land" or it was just " we come from distant land, but need to chose one which europeans heared of".

And it's Rroma and Rromani. Calling them Roma and Romani with a single R is seen as a slur by most of them as it deliberately confuses them with Romanians thereby undermining their culture.

Proof please? At least here in Hungary, nobody ever does this. We have two commonly used names, "roma" and "cigány", the former generally considered the most PC, but the latter isn't all that bad either. Maybe this is a Romania-only custom?

In the U.S. there is a whole culture of people that refer to themselves as "gypsies", though, in reality, they just seem like white trash.

I was hoping someone would point this out. Unfortunately, it's not going to stop some people from using it (indeed, I already see people defending their use of the word). Hope a mod steps in. Racist terminology shouldn't be allowed here.

I used it because uses Roma or Romai can get confusing, for me Roma is Rome. I just looked up the Etymology and it is a coincidence. Roma in the gypsy context is from Sanskrit doma, “member of a low caste of travelling musicians and dancers in Kashmir.”

Gypsies/Roma/Rromanis are Panjabi-origin people, who left India at about the time of CK2. I doubt they will be in the game though since they were just migrating commoners rather than a political entity or a class of nobles.

Its not a racial slur. It can be used in a way as a negative stereotype and is controversial for that but its not a racial slur and your most certainly not being racist by using the term gipsy to describe a person part of an ethnic group believed to have migrated from india to Europe roughly a 1,000 years ago.
Romani would be the more Politically correct term though that is an invention of the 19th century.

Uh, they aren't anywhere near complete agreement as far as I know. The fact that this two 'r' form is completely unknown here shows that. Gypsy, Roma, Romani - there are plenty of people who think some or all of these are offensive, and plenty others who use these terms to refer to themselves, including intellectuals.

'Gipsy/gipsy' is a common word used to indicate Romani people, Tinkers and Travellers, and use of the word "Gipsy" in English is so pervasive (and is a legal term under English law—see below) that many Romani organizations use it in their own organizational names.

Maybe a town with a Romani mayor? If not that at least A band of Romani mercenaries.
