Me and a friend of mine absolutely ADORE the Guns Drums and Steel music packs. She doesn't own the game (nor has any interest in it), but she likely loves it more than I do.

I want more of this type of music in my life. Does anyone here have any suggestions? When old and new mix like this, I adore it. Even some shades of Final Fantasy VII mixes were amazing. Black Mages springs to mind.

Ideas?

It's part of the music genre known as "epic music".

Two steps from hell is one of my favorite bands. A huge amount of trailers use their music.
This is "magika", enjoy!

What you're looking for is commonly labeled as "power metal" or "symphonic metal". These are pretty huge genres these days filled with tons of copycat bands, so if you go digging blindly, have a little patience while looking for quality works.

Here's some bands and choice albums to get you started:

Nightwish (Oceanborn, Once, Endless Forms Most Beautiful)
Blind Guardian (Nightfall in Middle Earth, A Night at the Opera, Beyond the Red Mirror)
Leaves' Eyes (Vinland Saga)
Rhapsody of Fire (Symphony of Enchanted Lands, Dawn of Victory) (band known as simply Rhapsody during these albums)
Epica (The Divine Conspiracy, Design Your Universe)
Therion (Lemuria, Sirius B)
Within Temptation (Mother Earth)

Two Steps From Hell is easily up there for me too. I play World of Tanks and War Thunder a lot, and United We Stand, is right up there amongst my favourites to game with.

Nightwish, Ghost Love Score, Storytime and I Want My Years Back are my top songs. Though they make excellent music anyway. The other ones, I shall delve into.

Thank you so much for giving me the name of this type of music, will make it much easier to research.

The above recommendations are spot-on, but I feel compelled to leave some other stuff here:
- Hollenthon(screaming vocals aren't everybody's cup of tea, but their instrumentation hits quite close. The second and third albums, in particular)
- Therion(simmilar to Epica)
- Haggard(not the same kind of "epic" feel going on, but they do take the "symphonic" part so seriously they're basically a mini-orchestra)
- Avantasia(much like the project's leader main band(Edguy) they eventually veered off pretty hard into hard rock territory, but you can't go wrong with the first two albums)

And I think that's it. I could keep going on, but then I'd be stretching the simmilarities with the GDS music pack(which btw I had never listened before, definitely picking it up when I can now) even worse than I already did.

Other good symphonic power metal bands are
Pathfinder (pretty much the definition of epic)
Luca Turilli
Dark Moor

Most good epic cinematic music can be found in modern video games and movies, especially those high fantasy ones like LOTR etc.
