I mean I removed Iberian Empire's core on the only revolt province of Imperial Portugal and that option is still muted out?

Well, I would think that you'd want it to revolt through chains, not manually. No?

Nope, I just what to check up on good ole human exploiting. You know how clever those humans can be...
:D

I am going to leave it for now and see what all the betas turn up. It is very, very rough in Europe now, it will be most interesting to see how you all 'cope'...

Just a screenshot from the France game. I declared war on Italy against since I was feeling bad for New Carthage. Since I don't want to take any land though, I'm letting them fight it out in Africa. Iberia has 21 divisions and Italy has 17, both with about 3 IC. New Carthage only has 31 divisions, but also 79 IC. Unfortunately, my puppets have landed in Africa, but what can I say?

The top 6 army size countries are the Ottomans, Germany, Khem, France, India then RoA, in that order. IC wise I think it goes Germany, Khem, France, India, Ottomans, and then RoA.

Also, Japan has landed in two spots on the West coast and is beating Oregon fairly badly. And Mexico is just defeated the last of the Mormons.

Nice game, what is the date?

It is only a matter of time before Imperial Germany DoW's you. If you are lucky the Kingom of Poland with go after them, but they are just as likely to go north or east. And Scotland will likely DoW you at some point as well the RoA.

Nothing like those minor allies cleaning up your messes...

I'm afraid, and while the Austrians were invading I started a "panic build" of infantry (20 series's of 5). But Germany and Khem are just scary. I imagine that New Carthage doesn't have much time as it is sandwiched between me and Khem. And Ethiopia is still going at it. And I just checked, and it has 815 IC with all of its cores. So next game I'm going to start it with a "full" Ethiopia and play as Argentina and see what I can do...

And Poland's been fairly isolationist. But if the Germans and Americans attacked me, well, I'd be in big, big trouble then...

Edit: As for Time, I'd say its around the end of Spring of '31...

In my game as ethiopia I finished off Khem and Opar and then checked the diplo screen and saw I had a 90% chance of demanding territory from the Saudis so I EU2'd them. Right now I'm the largest country in the world with 510 base IC (and no partisans). I have the nastiest army in the world too but I have no navy and aside from lots of escort fighters and transports no real air force.

One of the key decisions I think I made as ethiopia was sliding one step towards standing army rather than hawk at the beginning. That gave my troops an automatic 7-10% bonus which really tipped the scales in some of my harder fought battles against the Opar hordes Khem specialist forces.

Out of 100 divisions I produced I still have about 40 that are between 50-70% strength that are recovering in Addis Abba.

Actually the rest of the world has been a bit boring to my disappointment. I think the only nation that has disappeared other than the three I got was Afghanistan although France is in deep trouble as it is going against Mexico, CSA, Scotland and Iberia and unlike before Mexico hasn't been wrecked by airpower and will soon absorb Texas. Scotland is almost gone. Russia is being slowly beaten by Ukraine and OE and Mongolia looks like it will be next as Japan is putting on its usual beatdown... Also something is actually happening in S America as Brazil is being crushed by Argentina, Peru and Colombia...

Well I guess I am glad you still think it can get a trifle boring as I have added in more fireworks, but not for Africa. The original idea there is two-fold.

Once a human gets to your strength in Africa, you are to invade Europe et all and take it all at once. However, nothing is in place to er 'guide' you that direction.

Second when a human in Europe polishes up the area then there is likely to be some very large African AI ready to take you on.

Have not thought much beyond that.

Guild Imperium Beta is only designed for first year or two.

I have an idea. Yukala, how do you give blueprints in a scenario file. I want to try to have my "monster Ethiopia" try to get nukes...

Well at this point of sliding into beta2; I would say to do it the long hard way, er without getting buried by your neighbors who probably will not be sucking their thumbs while you whittle away the years getting to nukes...

Nonono. What I was planning to do was create a "monster-Ethiopia", give them blueprints and see what they do. I figure that with 800 IC, they can afford to waste a tech stop. And if they don't research it, then I'll save a go there every while and make them do it. All the while, as Argentina I'll be trying to conquer the New World to fight the Ethiopian menace.

The reason I am going to go the whole "ten yards" and take over the world is to see if this premise of GI being just for 1-3 years is correct.

As of 1934 I have the smallest mobile army in the world 60 IST. I have lest than any of the minors - not that there are many of them left. When I get around to post - you will sees pics of my takeover of the Philippines. My IST ate them up true - but the territory was constrained and there was no long fronts. My tactic of using only IST has paid dividends (will post soon)- but it cannot last - It will an interesting several more years.

Only IST?

Wow...

60 of them could probably overwhelm most countries...

Thanks that will be most interesting. What I mean by 1-2 years is that my ideas for constraining a player getting mega big are not yet in place.

But that slowly changes layer by layer.

However, if you do not get to mega status then so long as you do not the game remains viable generally and like you were playing in the first year or two.

AI's can go mega and get out of shape too, however that part is improved over the RiskMods. AI's can remain viable for perhaps a long decade or even maybe to 20 years. However, that 20 years part is pure speculation as I have never run a test game further than 7 years tops.

Paratroopers have some 'weaknesses' but those weaknesses are not in taking islands. More to do with a front and certain terrain.

I will review it though.

No unit is meant to win by itself.

Paratroops have their place and are certainly very important units especially for taking important terrain but they aren't the end all be all unit by any means.

My 'bread and butter' unit is arm/eng + either inf/lt or cav/lt although for the deserts of Africa just plain cavalry is by far the fastest and is indispensable for taking those big sahara desert provinces. Marines are great at taking out jungle provinces (I use marines to force a retreat then send in a paratroop unit to actually take the province and redeploy or load it up asap to avoid the brutal attrition.

Speaking of brutal attrition take a look at Walvis Bay, Namibia (near South Africa). There is something freaky going on in that province as it has 35% attrition per week! I lost 5 units there and didn't realize what was going on until I got a "disaster! unit wiped out" message. I had an hq just move there and it was down to 70%. The province is a desert so there shouldn't be any attrition.

Wow!!!

A black hole for sure, I never knew of it?
I wonder...

Yep, well I just reviewed some of general handicaps of para's and yes I think as they are now, in Beta1 you could use them as an uberunit.

They should not take forest or jungle or think to operate offensively in bad weather.

Well, they do not now! So enjoy, their uber days are numbered.

Paras shouldn't be cost effective for any combat. They perhaps should be better than most other units, but not cost-effective.
