Governments have done similar things.. nationalization of industries AFTER getting all the foriegn investments.. defaulting on World Bank Loans... Russia's Lend/Lease default... etc.

In case you were wondering how it ended up... I think the key was NOT getting invaded by Russia. There were a coulpe times where Russia could have done serious damage while I was engaged fully on another front.

Also, I did NOT go bankrupt.

Are you having to buy stuff to promote them? That's what will cost a lot is your buying enough resources back to the level you set them at.

Ie if you set it at but 10 when you promote you'll spend money buying the stuff back.

Have around 9,000 saved up before you promote a capitalist: that takes care of the 500 to promote a clerk, 5,000 for the capitalist and the rest to buy back the luxury goods/paper etc used to promote.

I just read through the guide:

Main problem: Can't satellite Hannover. Even when I get 100% warscore. (they're already UK satellites?)

The UK having them as satalite's isn't a problem.

Is the option not selectable, or simply they refuse? If the later simply offer again in a month.

Also make sure they don't have an Army running aroudn they won'y agree if they do.

I just re-checked, and it's not that... The problem seems to be that even though I occupy all of their provinces I do not have 100% warscore.

Is this because of Britain?

They will accept, you don't need 100% warscore as long as you occupy all their provinces. I've gotten them to accept satellite for an alliance peace even at 30% warscore. Make sure the Brits don't occupy much of your land and kill all Hanoverian divisions though, otherwise they might refuse. But keep offering and eventually they accept.

You only need 70% to demand their surrender but If you hover over the War Score it should show you how it add's up. If Britain has taken too much from you then you'll have to beat them back (Or make seperate peace).

The most I've had to ask is three time before Hannover acepts.

I have just started playing Vic. After fiddling around to figure things out I started a real game with Prussia. First did my factories and satellited Han, cont. with industrialization and building railroads and prepared for Denmark war. That event came, I was allied with Russia, who was allied with Denmark. I said yes to war and no war. Austria dow'ed Denmark, Russia, UK, France and SP dow'ed Austria and sat back and watched the hilarity ensue. Having shut myself out of that war through I believe entangled alliances, I cut ties with Austria and some south german minors, stayed allied with Russia and kept good rel with Ottomans and prepared for german domination war. Went with liberal govt, had relatively small army with high tech, Austria war event came around I said yes to war pop-up said I was at war, but I was not at war. Sat aound some more waiting F-P war, kept industrializing, F-P war never even came up. German federation event happens I say yes. Around 1885, I am still allied with Russia ,who dow's N. German Fed, I join in and satellite them. I continue on in my mostly peaceful path, by 1910 I am still Prussia, S German Fed a satellite of A-H, But I have 5,000 in prestige, 4rth Ind, and 4rth military, continuous influx of immigrants so my population is 72,000,000 and I am way ahead on V.P. My ? is, what the hell happened with the events, and was this the most boring game ever.

I You have got to fight Austria to cause the Franco-Prussian war but I'll go check the triggers.

EDIT: After looking through the files there is No 100% garuntee that you'll get a F-P war. But your relationship gets deteriorated that unless you're so militarily strong somebody should have Dow'd War somewhere.

Technically all you have to do to become Germany as Prussia is control Paris anytime after January 1st 1871.

Very nice guide for Prussia, thanks Lamprey. I had just finished a GC as Italy and intended to move on to an HOI game, but this caught my eye.

Using 1.03c and about 3-4 years into the game. I've pretty much annexed most of the northern and central German minors. Bavaria proved to be a nasty opponent early on. The southern German minors are still present.

Once the game started, I secured a defensive alliance (exception = Austria) w/ Russia. I didn't expect them to agree. Hope this proves to be a positive.

Hannover accepted satellite status at a 28% warscore in my game.
