Well, you *could* make a page on the official wiki…I wish this thread could be edited like the wiki sometimes, by EVERYONE![]()
Wow, that was way faster than I expected. You obviously really want that marriageAll typos are corrected, and the excessive coloring of text removed.
Bit exhausted now. Lost all images in the thread in the process, because I am a noob at this stuff. Oh well..
If you got suggestions on how to rewrite certain sections, please give them.

I'm playing the Coptomans. Very friendly with everyone in Europe. I noticed France had an old ruler and almost as old heir. They were friendly so I married them. Then they suddenly rivalled me and broke off the marriage! How dare they?! At first it was going to end up with a succession war between Provence and strong Castile. Now the war is going to be between Castile and Portugal. Currently Castile is friendly with me and I'm hoping to PU them too. What should I do?
Okay, thanks. What are the chances of succession war if I either rival France or marry Castile? What are the chances if I do both?Castile getting union over France might happen:
If France rivalled you, then rival them back. Marry Castile. Both those things might cause the succession war over FRANCE might go to Castile versus YOU, and you might be able to steal the union over France away.
Alternatively and at same time, if you cannot become eglible to start succession war versus castile:
if castile is France rival, then marry them and hope you somehow get same dynasty.
If Castille gets your dynasty, then you might claim their throne at some point, and do force PU war.
If you get 85% warscore versus Castile alone, you would get Castile AND France as a PU subject if you force a union over Castile.
But, easier said then done. If France goes nto union and goes over 50% liberty desire, now TGAT would be golden opportunity.
Okay, thanks. What are the chances of succession war if I either rival France or marry Castile? What are the chances if I do both?
EDIT: I did it. The succession war is still going to be between Portugal and Castile.
They will all become your PU subjects
no problembut remember that the BI gives some of the land to france
Excellent guide, Atwix, thank you!
Something interesting happened in my latest game. I'm playing Savoy, got an RM with Milan (friendly start with them), and got an automatic PU when the Duke of Milan died (not sure if AI Milan even had the choice to go Ambrosian). This was... unexpected - I'd been assuming I could use Milan to help me jump Switzerland/Genoa and turn on them in due course too.
I gather I need to a) try and blob a bit and b) keep my development high in order to stand an earthly of integrating them at some point. Any advice? (Running 1.18.4 RoM and a handful of other DLC, but not Cossacks or Mare Nostrum I think).
Something that came up in my current France game, which I've never seen before might be interesting yto you guys:
I saw the Saxon king was ~65 years old and heirless, so I RMed them (expecting that SW between Poland and Bohemia would shift to SW between France and whoever), instead I got the PU the day the RM got accepted.
Do you think it was just a lucky case of the king dying right then and the contestant refusing to attack? I'd be kinda surprised by this, as the strongest contestant would have been Poland, who might have been powerful enough to try.
