Thought they had fixed shadow puppeting!
I think I saw a different version of it though, but when I tried it they had patched it by removing the ability to select the option to puppet for 0 points.
This looks a little different, here you liberate Chec and Austria to Germany and have thus secured all the unselected German land from other allies taking it? Same outcome, different path to it though.
Wish I knew about this before I finished my vive le france achievement game. I just had to wear all the world tension for no rewards at all.
Yes - you take everything, then unclick one tile and then puppet. It puppets the nation on that tile. Then you can unselect everything else as you likely won't have the war score to click next turn at that point. It's not exactly shadow puppetting: the nation will be formed, and they will hate you because you have all their cores. In that run, Germany freed itself, stayed in the Allies (whilst I got kicked out) and tried to declare on me, again, in 1944..... (and I didn't feel like taking over the world, so I just improved relations and did a focus to make the UK love me a tiny bit and let me back into the Allies thus voiding Germany's justification).
Notes:
- I got a little lucky with Stalin declaring quite late - on the test runs, he declared on me before I could completely finish off Germany (mid June-ish). In those cases, just let him push you back. You might need to redeploy about six (or if you can afford it, train a few new ones) of the attack infantry to close any gaps he creates (either by holding the line whilst your troops move into place or doing very small scale counter-attacks). If he breaks through your lines without anyone there to stop him quickly, there's a risk he will go on the rampage with his tanks.
- You can also get the bearer of artillery achievement this way by declaring on Iran before the Soviets join (and having a force in the RAJ / naval invasion ready from Aiden or something to take some territory). They'll then join the Axis and you won't need to take much, just one tile will roll them into the peace deal. Obviously, in the peace deal, take the required Italian land as well...
