Here is your problem... you named the species group "trump" but named the actual species (in the species_classes) "tesportrait"

So you need to either change "testportrait" to "trump" or the other way around.

I've managed to get this to work after a little tinkering, I am wondering now if I can add multiple portraits in this manner? I tried to make another following the instructions, but only my first seems to appear in the creation screen,

Anyone had any luck getting PDX's clothing selector to work with 2D portraits? My guess is by telling the game to load a 2D sprite it either displays the portrait in front of the clothes so we can't see them, or doesn't load them at all. Or I'm just doing something wrong. xD (I hope that's the case.)

I went to all the effort of lining up the shoulders and neck of my Asari with the PDX humans for nothing, it seems.

Well, yeah - it'd allow for visual variation of pops without me making a bunch of different .dds to mix and match skin tone with different clothing options.

You can still do that without the clothing. Very easily with 2d portraits. Manually just make all the different variations in 2d portraits and you are good to go

Ok im a bit lost on what im doing wrong. i have everything up to where im checking if i have the green portrait but when i play the game i have nothing. the mod is in my mod list so i dont know what im doing wrong but i think that is must be in the connection to the folder

well something happened im not getting a green pic but i am getting a new blank space in the race select. going to keep trying

sorry for the dp but now i think im doing something wrong with the pic format it is in .dds so im not sure what it is. im using paint so that might be what im doing wrong, but when i had not altered the pic at all its still was just a blank spot on the race selection screen. sorry about all this its my first time modding.
Never mind as expected im an idiot who did not relay read though everything. got it ruining now so its just editing left

You really can't use paint, as far as I now, as it can't correctly save to a .dds file.

I would recommend you going to the .dds step as I think that I forgot to put the alpha layer on my .dds file, which is probably why you are hitting a brick wall.

I does work with paint actually, but you need to make sure that it is not set to use paint by default for some reason after you set it not to use paint to open it as default it correctly returns to a .dds file. no idea why but it works (paint.net)

It does it for everything. So that's for leaders, for pop pics. Everything.

My problem is I'm not an artist, I commission artists. And if I want to commission someone for this, I have to try to understand what it is they need to do so I can explain it to them.

This makes static variations of the 3D animated portrains the game uses for the stock races, yes? Then it should be good enough to work for now. No way in hell can I afford a 3D artist xD

3D portraits in the game, are really just upgraded 2D portraits. @Summercat

what i mean is that when i create two mods of this type only one will be in game.

Can you make the 2d portraits have multiple layers? I.e. clothes, colour and hair? Or are those reserved for the 3d ones?
