Haha got it! I was never in doubt it had to be Italy (though didn't rule out Corsica or Croatia). Being so small, I had to use maps (Probably a well known tourist destination though, but I've never heard of it...). By share luck (or, was it informed guess?!), I clicked on the small of town of Portoferraio first. It has to be, right?

If you are unsure whether it qualifies as a skyline then I suggest you take a look at the OP in which it is described what kind of skylines can be used.

Hmm, let's see:
- A small/medium-sized town in a distinctive geography...
I suppose that the geography is not directly deducible from this image, but I think that the vegetative "barrenness" and peculiar architecture (or lack thereof) might still be a clue as to its general whereabouts...
And, it has a shop... Or at least I think it does

I think it's somewhere in the Andes but so far I haven't found anything that looks remotely like this. They build with stone there, not wood.
It looks more like somewhere in the Steppes to me but I gave up after looking through a number of towns. Seems to be rather small and I have this feeling that most likely it will turn out to be an unknown town.
It is bigger than the last one lol

Your last hint got me thinking that it is probably somewhere in Tibet. After looking for various colorful tibetan mountain towns I stumbled upon Larung Gar which is the largest religious institute in the world according to Wikipedia.
