So I bought El Dorado and very excited started to play North American Indians - first Iroquis and then Sioux. In both cases at some point of the game France decided to eradicate my nation from the map - they simply sent their 10k army with cannons to the wilderness around Great Lakes (far away from their colonies) and they destroyed my 20k army in one mayor battle without any casaulties.

I know that France is a colonial power but nobody would tell me that in the middle of XVII century some most militant Indians didn't have the slighest chance fighting against European. In this game, unfortunately, they don't (yeah - I know, you can reform, westernize, etc. but that's not my point) and i believe there are two reasons, both of which could be fixed somehow.

First of all - it is silly that the only option we have when defending against European agression is to go to the major battle (in which of course your troops get literally smashed without inflicting any casaulties). I think it should be possible to conduct a guerrilla warfare. Maybe European armies should be automatically attacked by local people in your territory, just like it is when they march through nobody's land. Now we have very funny situation - some no name natives are actually more dangerous for European armies than mayor Indian nations (natives attacks can inflict some damage, as they have very high morale).

Secondly - for God sake please consider turning off automatical reinforcements in the enemy lands! Neither casaulties in battles nor attrition would really matter as long as fresh French boys can be sent from Paris straight to the North America woods every month (I believe that they are simply teleported). And this is a general comment - not only connected with playing as Indians.

Wouldn't one way be just portray it as attrition?

I once tested it with Albania, I gave them a ruler modifier that increased attrition and increased defense causing a long war and Ottomans taking significant amount casualties.

It would be nice if enemy armies didnt get reinfoced so easily.

Maybe make it so that enemy armies can only be reinforced in provinces bordering their cores and if they go any deeper then they are on their own.

Would at least make defense in depth viable in europe.

Chlodio - yes, you are right, but as long as your enemy has a lot of manpower it really doesn't matter. He just gets reinforcements, wherever his army stands (even in the middle of severe winter deep in Canadian woods).

Anatur - that was exactly my point. You should be only able to get reinforcements if you are in the province that border your own, or perhaps also occupied ones (to be decided). Presently it makes this game completely ahistorical when it comes to this matter (which is really sad).
