Does anyone know exactly how individual races' growth rates affect planetary pop growth over time?

ie - if there are two races in an empire, one with slow-breeder trait, and the other with rapid-breeder - will it just alternate randomly between each being the "next pop", with one just being slower than the other (ultimately just balancing each other our)...

or... would the rapid-breeder race get selected more often, and thus you'd end up with more of them over time?

Somebody posted a list of factors that go into selecting pop growth, it's in the game files and moddable. I think I remember one of those factors weigh the importance of the rapid breeder trait in pop selection, but I'm not sure.

However it doesn't matter, because the "grow this pop if it's underepresented" factor is so huge that eventually all pops will equalize. So even if your rapid breeder was selected at first, then the slow breeder which became a minority will be selected until equalization.

Ah thanks, that helped me to track down related topics. Also realised as a result that you can manually select the currently growing pops if you enact population controls... ideal for authoritarian perfect-stratified-society-sculpting :)
