Just downloaded the demo today and played it non-stop.
I love the graphics, the music, and of course the game itself.:D

That said, there are some pretty integral problems with the game.

Terrible path finding. If bus line 1 has stops A, B, C, and D with A and B being the big stops with lots of angry commuters waiting, why does nobody use my 2nd express bus line with only A and B as stops?
Subway way too imbalanced. Sure you usually need a big loan to build one, but once you build it, it just blows away buses and trams. Because buses and trams compete for the road with cars and are fairly slow at loading/unloading passengers, it actually feels like buses and trams add to the congestion rather than alleviate it.
The aforementioned problem with adding/eliminating stops. Why why why do I need to pause a line in order to take out one stop? Sure if I were shifting a whole line by a block or so I'd understand needing to pause the entire line. But please don't make it so hard to make small tweaks to lines.
Buses and trains aren't spaced out. This problem is somewhat eliminated with experience as you learn to time your addition of vehicles to the line but why should you have to? Is even spacing of vehicles too much to ask?

Perhaps I am asking too much and the technology just isn't capable of creating a convincing simulation. Perhaps Paradox just doesn't have the man power to make the game that Cities in Motion could be. But I hope that this not the case that that these problems will be addressed in future patches.

What do you guys think? Am I wrong in calling out these problems? Do you have any complaints that you'd like to voice?

About the first question and the path finding, it rather easy :
People want to go from point A to point B. Lucky for them, 2 lines (I'll call them 1 and 1exp) deserve the place.
Line 1 go A, B, C and D and line 1exp go A and B.
So both line are equal for them. Both are the same transport type, the same vehicle and the same price. So again it's the same.

Then, the part that can change is the time. Time to go from A to B and time between buses.
normally time from A to B should be the same, but it seems to never be true as it uses real timing of the buses and if one is unlucky and get into the traffic congestion and not the other one. So maybe avantage to line 1.
and then, if there are more often buses from line 1 than from line 1exp, it's again avantage to line 1.

With a bit of luck, you didn't choose the same buses and took bigger one for line 1exp. Bad luck and those buses are less attractive than the one on line 1...

The real problem is that they don't reevaluate each time a vehicle arrive at the station. Knowing that the bus X is here, so time to wait is 0. compared to the classique value of waiting time.

Don"t be so critical, be patient

:rolleyes:Your comments are right on the money, but be more patient. " Rome was not built in a day". This is the first collaboration of design studios to produce a potentially "awesome" game. Give it a chance. You forget this is Paradox. They are a wonderful design studio, they listen to gamers, plus the community will create mods and "improvements" fairly quickly. Many of your issues may be addressed upon release of the real game next week. If not , the first or second patch should adress your concerns. I have played city simulations since Sim City and Chris Sawyer's locomotion plus Cities XL. Cities in Motion potentially could be the greates of them all. Be patient.

This is the biggest problem! Along with metros spending too long in stations.

I have found this from my own experience:
build line 1, which goes A-B-C-D (and back again)
Big crowds waiting at B, mostly going to C
build line 2, which goes B-C
The big crowds at B don't notice line 2, because when they planned their journey, only line 1 exists.
But, in time, about half the new passengers going B-C will pick line 2, and half will pick line 1.

To force this to happen earlier, remove stop B from line 1 and put it back straightaway. The crowd at B will magically vanish, and the new B-C passengers will pick either line 1 or line 2.

But really, it would be great if passengers could notice when other vehicles will also serve their destination!

@Cohnman5 - nowhere is RemovableFriend demanding this be fixed instantly - why do you say he's impatient? CiM is an awesome game, RF said so too, but it can be much better when these issues are fixed!
