I think most people would agree with that. I wouldn't be apposed to an automated public transit option that I could keep off, but I'd rather see COs resources be spent elsewhere.

Well, I enjoy it. I like to build my city exactly how I want, and then create transport lines and see if they’re any efficient, and if not, try to improve them. I find it rewarding to see them used by cims. And, without that there wouldn’t be anything to manage in the city (with respect to services you just plop the buildings) and the game would be a pure city painter. While I like ‘painting’ a city, it’s nice to have some form of management (but nothing too challenging, I find this game relaxing and I want it to say like that, I would play something else for a challenge).

That's why I brought up Simcity and said that this would be optional. Lots of people manually move their unites in HOI. Simcity has management and gameplay that is more than just painting (which I would like CS to move away from) and plopping. Transit systems are a poor replacement, and the game doesn't have enough tourists or a high enough proportion of citizens using the transit systems already.

Being able to upgrade public buildings like hospitals and the police force so that you can build them sooner and tweak what they do and make them more effective would be really cool. Like add more cars to a dump or more detectives to a police station. They could also flesh out those mechanics a little more, like having actual criminals running around the city that you can see.

Mega-towers (SC2013 XPack), arcologies (SC2000), larger farms, dynamic air pollution, 4 seasons with sometimes mega-brutal weather patterns, cargo airplanes, more in-depth economy (if one even exists), optimized engine, larger vehicle limit (if possible), DirectX 12 and OpenGL with latest binaries), an option to set up automatic lines (like SimCity), Native Windows 10 support for us Micro$uck users, and more cores/threads can be assigned to the game by options.

Deeper economics management, links between industries and services, organized industrial zone effects etc would be nice.

This sounds good but I'm afraid all we'll have from now is just cosmetics (or a new game ?) The more they add in the game will not stop players from using mods, and the whole game to get slow, the concept finds its technical limits. How could CO surprise us ?

I hope the next DLC will focus on services, not simply adding more, but better management of services. To me this is one of the most annoying parts of CS that hasn't been sufficiently addressed since release.

So not sure what the next expansion will be, but I hope it has a focus on improving what is already there.

Honestly, zoning needs a looksie.

Mixed use commercial-residential, medium density, light industrial (though this could be specialization)

While mixed use C-R is a thing, and it would be a realistic addition, I'm not convinced that it is really needed, and may confuse things. (Might be really nice too, I dunno.)

Medium density though, yeah, definitely! Along with specialized zones respecting Low-Medium-High density.

I'd personally love to see a politics feature added in some way. Whether there is something like a state legislature or something along those lines, potentially something symbolic as well. Could work similar to the way Europa Universalis IV handles Parliamentary Democracies. Potentially having a legislature for each region or specifically designating political regions. Could work on a system where you build something, improve something or move something in a specific region to boost cooperation.

Just a thought.

I was thinking this could work as a residential specialization, in an abstract way. Buildings have significantly lower commerce needs, but require some goods deliveries. Probably slightly lower population capacity.

I desperately want large industrial buildings. 4x4 industrial buildings simple don't cut it. We need large warehouse type buildings and factories. Without this, once you get a city growing, it just has a homogeneous look to it as RCI all start to blend together.

Virtually every city everywhere in the world has industrial areas with large-footprint buildings (warehouse, factories, etc.). This adds a certain look and realism.

Or, at the least, I would like to see more types of industry. High-tech (things you could place right next to residential) would be the big one. It is annoying to have a high-end, rich city, but having Victorian-era looking factories belching out smoke.

Agree with everyone else, with the success of the game (as said by the developers), and money we are throwing at it with the expansions, I would like to see a fundamental revisit of the core engine. With it, I feel it would add years of life to the game. Without it, I feel it will start to fade away as people lose interest.
