For those who actually play the game with limited money, it would be great to have the cims vote in an election every 3-5 years. It puts pressure on you to meet different objectives (sometimes conflicting ones) and keep a balanced budget.

On top of @Fox_NS_CAN comment, once the new mayor is elected then what?
It sounds more like a gamemode for Scenarios, if you look at it in Fox's perspective.
Real season changes.
more different farms large and small.
Court buildings without the 50% crime requirement.
You know you only have to do that once ever. After that its unlocked forever unless you delete that one file that records it.Real season changes, more different farms large and small. Court buildings without the 50% crime requirement. Aachievements that give you 12 or 25 map squares.

I do know from previous posts, that the CEO has wanted ponies in the game since before release (I think she owns a horse farm). It wouldn't surprise me at all if we were to get a dlc ala Match Day but for horses instead with a Kentucky Derby or Churchill Downs racetrack; horse farms and thoroughbred horse raising as an industry. I'm joking of course, but you never know; CEOs (@co_martsu) cannot be thwarted forever.
Weren't Riding Stables an unlockable building as part of After Dark?
Well, aside from the "Sparkly Unicorn Rainbow Park" (Natural Disasters), there is the "Riding Stable" (After Dark). A horse race track might be cool though. Maybe polo.
I'll guess "UnderWorld" which will allow us to build cities underground. Which will produce new methods of power, water, sewage etc. I can imagine placing lighting on the walls & ceilings of the city. Disasters could have stalagmites falling? We could have digging/excavating machines that a player would use to enlarge the city rather than purchasing tiles. There would be a need for artificial sunlight for plants and cims and such so losing that ability would in time cause your plants/farms to die, worsening health etc.
Oxygen & Air would be a new mechanic that would have to be incorporated, powered etc. new techs.
Clean air, water & ground could be very challenging for the player which may include different types of scrubbers to keep the underworld clean, healthy etc.
Maybe there can be ancient wall artwork carved into city walls? Maybe assets can be made that could place some really amazing rock carved artistic monuments, statues etc
Maybe entire communities can be built within caves
Maybe there can be sunlight shafts that can be cut into the earth/rock ceiling that sun shafts could shine through that would move as the sun does. Maybe they can be as narrow as a single house or building or as large as a city block?
Maybe in time your city can transform from an underground rock/earth based city to one where the player can replace the rock ceiling with a glass one. Which would then force the player to have to change over power (possibly other utilities/necessities) from a "XXXX" form of power to solar?
Maybe a 'fracking' type thing can be introduced to find natural gas to power the city
Maybe health is a much higher concern underground? Maybe purification systems are extremely necessary as are hospitals and medical care
Maybe no cars? Maybe no combustion engines of any kind?
Maybe many different types of lighting as there will be no sun? Maybe transitways are lighted and only produce lighting effects if they are moving?
Ok, I'll stop now
Locally high crime rate already somewhat decreases land value, as far as I know. I think the happiness and demand systems could use a bit of rebalancing, so they would take more of a hit if there are widespread problems.Like many people, I imagine, Green Cities wasn't exactly the earth shattering update I was craving (especially after natural disasters). Personally I'd like to see a bigger emphasis, which we have seen more of, on the game-related aspects. Right now we have a lot of toys and tools, but outside of natural disasters there just aren't really that many things that matter in your city. For example, crime gets too bad and ... buildings go vacant. Sure. It would be nice to see the game place an emphasis on having more solution-oriented gameplay. Such as crime lowers property values, low property values reduce education, reduced education becomes crime. The same could be said for many of the other issues that the game faces.
