For those who actually play the game with limited money, it would be great to have the cims vote in an election every 3-5 years. It puts pressure on you to meet different objectives (sometimes conflicting ones) and keep a balanced budget.

I've seen a lot of comments from people revolving around the topic of politics, I honestly, do not see how this would function properly within Cities. I mean, I'm not opposed of the idea, it'll simply be another feature I can mess around with. But, I just don't see how 'elections' would make the game more interesting, just sounds unnecessary, which is wasteful of PDX when they could focus on more important aspects and features related to the game. If someone can make a extremely good detailed document on how to introduce Politics into Cities Skylines. I'd probably reconsider, but I doubt it.

There has been a bit of interest in this sort of thing, but I'm not really sure why.

So, every four years there is an election, and if you don't win, it's game over and start a new city?

I wouldn't mind something along the line of getting a nice Mayor's Mansion unlocked if you do well enough long enough.

On top of @Fox_NS_CAN comment, once the new mayor is elected then what?
It sounds more like a gamemode for Scenarios, if you look at it in Fox's perspective.

From my perspective, I don't find it very interesting. :)
I wonder if someone could who is interested could explain it in a way that I would find interesting. (I have my doubts, but I am always willing to listen.)

It does make some sense as a possible Scenario mode, like you say.

What I would like to see in the game in the future :

-The possibility to have bridges (which might become possible with the new road tool?)
-Water recycling plant : why is dirty water thrown back in the sea/rivers? Maybe the game could get a simple water recycling plant?
-neighborhood libraries.
-An underground train station Grand Central style, and underground transport hubs.
-Parks : I'm still using the same original parks in all my cities, other small easy- to-place parks would be great.
-Industry zones could get more variety or other types, new specialty buildings, and industry transportation : Multi-platform goods stations? Airport for the industry?
-The budget panel could be even more enhanced, larger loans offer, shortcuts for transport budget, control over ticket prices maybe ?
-Events (stadiums! Concerts!) ans content creators packs are great, I hope we'll get more of these !
-Last but not least : there are still a few mods which should be included in the game : crossings, tree brush, move it (some kind of adaptation?), Quays anarchy, no more purple pollution...

Urban runoff?
Parkinglots?
Traffic accidents - tow trucks?

Ofcourse policies and economics but i guess that ain't comming. As far I see it Cities designed as it is, I find more or less the whole game reached it dead end. I rather got my hopes up for the sequel for a more complete and complex game, with politics, crime, trade, supply and demand.

A more fleshed out industry. This would include a better developed farms but also improve the supply chain ; from industrial or import to commercial or export.

This has been written about before many times, but we need paradox and CO to also give those that are looking for a management challenge something, rather than just city painting

Real season changes.

Agree. If done right, could be very nice.

more different farms large and small.

Agree.
Draw a large area (sort of like districts) and be able to zone it farm, or beach, or park, etc.

Court buildings without the 50% crime requirement.

Not that hard to get. Keep in mind you can save your game, ruin the city for an achievement/unlocking, then go back to your last save. You still have the achievement/unlock.

I find it harder to get 5000 squares of Tourism specialization.

After that its unlocked forever unless you delete that one file that records it.

Or if you click on the "Reset Unique Buildings" button. Patch 1.1.0 added a confirmation requirement to that, so harder to do it by accident now.

I do know from previous posts, that the CEO has wanted ponies in the game since before release (I think she owns a horse farm). It wouldn't surprise me at all if we were to get a dlc ala Match Day but for horses instead with a Kentucky Derby or Churchill Downs racetrack; horse farms and thoroughbred horse raising as an industry. I'm joking of course, but you never know; CEOs (@co_martsu) cannot be thwarted forever.

Maybe a Therapeutic Riding "healthcare" facility.

Weren't Riding Stables an unlockable building as part of After Dark?

There is a "Riding Stable" in the "Tourism and Leisure" parks, and yes it was part of "After Dark", though I do not believe it needed to be unlocked (just city milestone). I did actually mention it earlier in this thread.

Well, aside from the "Sparkly Unicorn Rainbow Park" (Natural Disasters), there is the "Riding Stable" (After Dark). A horse race track might be cool though. Maybe polo.

If you are wondering what's the difference with the "Therapeutic Riding" suggestion, it counts as a "healthcare" facility like the sauna, instead of a park like the "Riding Stable". Would it look a whole lot different? Probably not. There would have to be some similarities. Sort of like a "Plaza with trees" and a "Plaza with picnic tables". They both have trees and they both have picnic tables. But differences too. The model would be slightly different, and the health effect would be different.

I'll guess "UnderWorld" which will allow us to build cities underground. Which will produce new methods of power, water, sewage etc. I can imagine placing lighting on the walls & ceilings of the city. Disasters could have stalagmites falling? We could have digging/excavating machines that a player would use to enlarge the city rather than purchasing tiles. There would be a need for artificial sunlight for plants and cims and such so losing that ability would in time cause your plants/farms to die, worsening health etc.
Oxygen & Air would be a new mechanic that would have to be incorporated, powered etc. new techs.
Clean air, water & ground could be very challenging for the player which may include different types of scrubbers to keep the underworld clean, healthy etc.
Maybe there can be ancient wall artwork carved into city walls? Maybe assets can be made that could place some really amazing rock carved artistic monuments, statues etc
Maybe entire communities can be built within caves
Maybe there can be sunlight shafts that can be cut into the earth/rock ceiling that sun shafts could shine through that would move as the sun does. Maybe they can be as narrow as a single house or building or as large as a city block?
Maybe in time your city can transform from an underground rock/earth based city to one where the player can replace the rock ceiling with a glass one. Which would then force the player to have to change over power (possibly other utilities/necessities) from a "XXXX" form of power to solar?
Maybe a 'fracking' type thing can be introduced to find natural gas to power the city
Maybe health is a much higher concern underground? Maybe purification systems are extremely necessary as are hospitals and medical care
Maybe no cars? Maybe no combustion engines of any kind?
Maybe many different types of lighting as there will be no sun? Maybe transitways are lighted and only produce lighting effects if they are moving?

Ok, I'll stop now

It looks more like Terraria or Fallout Shelter, this is not Cities:Skylines..
If Colossal Order make a expansion pack foccused on underground, I really want a extended and complex metro system, and more types of subways and tunnels, that are things from real world, that I miss in the game..

Like many people, I imagine, Green Cities wasn't exactly the earth shattering update I was craving (especially after natural disasters). Personally I'd like to see a bigger emphasis, which we have seen more of, on the game-related aspects. Right now we have a lot of toys and tools, but outside of natural disasters there just aren't really that many things that matter in your city. For example, crime gets too bad and ... buildings go vacant. Sure. It would be nice to see the game place an emphasis on having more solution-oriented gameplay. Such as crime lowers property values, low property values reduce education, reduced education becomes crime. The same could be said for many of the other issues that the game faces.

So in addition to that, I'd like to see 'time' added. Basically, allow your city to take place over time and have significant effects that can have large gameplay ramifications on your city. Depressions, riots, wars, etc... things that don't happen specifically *to* your city, but that take place in the outer fictional world and have an impact *on* your city. Not to mention the advent of new technologies as time goes on. In fact, that's my number one critique of the game: the city-size based unlocks. Why? If I have the money it would be more interesting to want to build a nuclear power plant and have to deal with green peace protesters then to have to reach a certain population, or even, as I said, just a function of time. It would be especially cool if the buildings changed with time to reflect the time period. Though I suspect, given how few themes there are, that might be a *tad* ambitious for CO.

Again, I understand that some of this is not what all players would want but to me that's the game portion and we already have a sandbox-style mode. So having a more game-focused challenge mode would be at the top of my list. And besides, I didn't really get hyped over a lot of the DLC so I'm willing to be selfish and say too bad, some of us want it!

EDIT: Oh, and regions that can experience multiple seasons. It would be awesome to only have to deal with rain and snow for portions of the year, along with the various effects.

Locally high crime rate already somewhat decreases land value, as far as I know. I think the happiness and demand systems could use a bit of rebalancing, so they would take more of a hit if there are widespread problems.
