Only started one war against egypt (retaken crete) and this is my little greek state in 1912...o

For some reasons I can't buy luxury cloths from WM... screwed up my industry.

Income is pretty decent @ 60-70 income.

Not sure if I should crush the uncivs in Asia to get more land or not, but that would increase my financial burden...Russia is good friend, maybe time to sandwich Ottomans.

quite surprised, I reached roughly rank 11 with industrial score of 1300+ in 1929...with just that small Greece, crushed Ottomans in a war and take back all cores, plus crushed completely their evil fleet....

Yup. Choose the right option, DoW the turks and occupy Istanbul, than wait for the magic. In fact, I like this event so much that I usually help the Greek defeating the turks during the balkan wars, even when playing the US...

Yeah, you can. He's on about doing it from an AI war (the Balkan Wars are pretty much guaranteed for Greece to get involved in).

Anyway, in the next version the Byzantine formation chain will be replaced by an 'achieving the Megali Idea' chain, which should be more sophisticated and at least based in reality unlike the forming Byzantium chain (The Megali Idea was the nationalist aspiration of the day, not the forming of Byzantium).

So, if I go download VIP right now, start a game as Greece, and occupy Constantinople in a war anytime, I will turn into New Byzantium?

The event chain is a little retarded and feels like cheating.
All you have to do is occupy Constantinople. Then occupy Ankara in the second war and you gain like 3-4 new national cultures.

Huh. Well I found a bunch of Greece -> Byzantium events, so I am going to try them out. I still am hesitant to get VIP.

VIP is, generally, vastly superior to the unmodded game. That being said, words cannot describe the level of my distaste for the Byzantium events.

What in particular makes you hesitant about VIP? You can always just copy-paste your Victoria:Revolutions directory and install VIP into that, leaving your original game untouched.
