Greek Hellenism Under Rome?

Were the Greeks living in the pre-christian Roman Empire fully Roman in their religious practices and beliefs? I know that the Greek religion and the Roman religion were extremely similar, but also different in many ways. So, had the Greeks by the time Constantine fully assimilated to the more structured, empire centric religion of the Romans or did they maintain their original beliefs about the Gods? I'm planning a Greek Hellenic play through and I kinda want to pick the right one for restoring Rome.

pretty sure they followed their original local greek religion for example, greeks in anatolia during constantine still followed the cult of cybele, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cybele. Roman religion was pretty flexible and didn't outlaw other gods (most of the time anyways) like the abrahamic religion does as long as you followed the laws of the empire


that said, 99% of the population were christians by the time of the earliest start date

Yeah I'm definitely going for a Julian the Apostate type run lol. I just kinda wanted to know which I should pick for a Greek Emperor restoring the empire. Thanks for the answer! I'll probably go with Greek Hellenism over the Roman one now.
