Due to historical event which took place in the year 1595 in Berest where Catholic and Orthodox churches signed a union which created Greek-catholic church (also known and Eastern Catholic, Ruthenian Catholic or Ukrainian Catholic) which is now spread among the majority of Galicians (Przemyśl, Lwów, Halicz, Podolie in-game provinces) and western Belaruś provinces. Moreover Paradox Wiki says that Galicia-Volhynia is a catholic state when in game it is orthodox one, and no event of turning to catholicism is present. Wouldn't it be logicaly to add such an event at least for those provinces?

To clarify - the event would turn the provinces Catholic, correct? AFAIU, this would represent the voluntary acceptance of Papal authority by the Metropolitan and various members of the clergy (bishops, etc.) via the Union of Brest.

From the other thread, this makes sense for possible flavour because:
  • This instance represents a change of religion as led by the religious hierarchy, not an imposed legal state. The in-game conversion mechanic best represents a state's efforts to convert people, whereas this event was primarily achieved between Rome and the Metropolitan of Kiev. As such, it is similar to the Reformation, where the local hierarchy (princes and supporting clergy) changed their allegiance away from Rome, rather than missionary activity.
  • Catholic would be the best representation as the Eastern Catholic churches only differ in rite, not in doctrine (i.e. they are in communion with Rome, therefore Catholic). This is true even if they share many cultural and liturgical practices with their Orthodox neighbours. This is consistent with the in-game treatment of other rites within the Catholic Church - i.e. they are referred to collectively as Catholic. The in-game representation, as such, represents more than simply the Roman Catholic Church, but rather the whole Catholic Church.
  • This could be a great DHE which has multiple possible & historically plausible outcomes:
    1. First possible outcome: Union of Brest - these provinces convert to Catholic.
      • Leads to increased unrest in that area, with events possibly converting the provinces back via rebels.
    2. Second possible outcome: Metropolitan of Kiev aligns with Russian Orthodox - provinces remain Orthodox, Muscovy/Russia gains patriarchal authority (they also maybe gain claims on these provinces).
      • Leads to heightened tensions between Poland/PLC & Muscovy/Russia through claims, CBs, opinion modifiers, etc.
    3. Third possible outcome: Metropolitan affirms independence of Kievan Orthodox - provinces remain Orthodox. Muscovy/Russia loses patriarchal authority.
      • Increased separatism in the provinces - rebels that want to create an Orthodox Ruthenian state that has a bonus to PA.
