I'm playing my first game of HoI2 as the german (hard/agressive) and I am having some problems with my allies. After taking over the czechs i got Slovakia nad Hungary to ally with me - pretty standard I am guessing? But then when I attacked Poland and they eagerly jumped in to help me the Hungarians took one of the polish provinces - fair enough, I guess they'd done their part and since it wasn't worth anything I let it pass. After Poland I took military control of my two allies to prevent something like that from happening again and when I jumped Yugoslavia in October I was using their best corps for support. Lo and behold - we make a combined attack on a province (mostly my panzers but they had a few divisions too) and again the hungarians get to keep the province??
So for the next attacks I just let them sit and only use them as support and they still get the provinces and this time it's Belgrade and Sarajevo so it's really serious  .
In Belgrade I had support, but Sarajevo was an all german ops except perhaps for some air cover.
So my question is: How do I prevent this and why is it happening?

I am thinking of going back to my last save because I don't understand what happened and my main reasons (greedy ones  ) for taking yugoslavia has just gone to my annoing allies (please remember that this is my first game so if it's a stupid newbie question - bear with me).

Going back would be a real bummer though - cause one of my sub fleets just shot a good part of the french high sea fleet to pieces including two CA and 1 BB

You attack from allies' territory so it will turn to them. The owner of the new province is the one that provides supply to the troops that capture it.

Another reason that can cause such problem is if your ally has claim on the territory and either he is the leader of the alliance or you do not have claim on it.

If you attack out of a Hungarian province, even with your forces, the land will go to the Hungarians.

Doofus idea probably, but who knows?

I haven't been playing the game for a while, in anticipation of what hopefully will be a great 1.2 patch. However, after reading a lot of the different threads, I'm wondering if it would be possible to turn on the neville cheat (which I've not yet experimented with), then ask your ally really, really nicely if they wouldn't mind handing over the province that they just took possession over? Since their new province isn't a 'core' province of theirs, I think that means that it should be subject to trading. Afterwards, you could then turn off the neville cheat and still feel like you're maintaining your integrity (mostly :) ).

Would this work, or have I misunderstood what I've read in the forum?

I think it can work.

I have gotten used to once and a while loading the game as one of my allies just to see how they are doing techwise etc...and while doing this I just open a trade talk and handover such provinces to the "right" owner...ofcause this might be a small cheat but often my small allies Hungary etc. already has some TC issues and its not even in their own interest to hang onto worthless provinces which just drag thier TC even further down....also its wise to once and a while check out how your allies economy is going so u can supply them with the resources they need to get max IC and TC so their troops actually get supplied.

Even if Hungary has a TC under 100, that might not be a problem.

What does their specific TC modifiers look like? If it's a high Occupied Territory Maintenance portion, that is a problem for them.

But if it's because they built up a very large army, that's not a problem. Just take military control of their divisions and move them to your territory and use them for coastal defense or on anti partisan duties. When allied troops are on your territory, you supply them, not your ally.

I did that after grabing Yugoslavia with Germany.
The only reason I went in there was to get a port on the Med, but since I was allied to Italy they got all the costal provinces due to them having cores. So I used neville and got them to give me former Albania and my problem was solved.
