Greece? Bulgaria? then what's next? Most of players never play such endless unimportant minors!

Minor nations are really interesting. I love playing them in Singleplayer for alt history or playing them in MP with friends. I think especially Bulgaria will be one of my new favorites, Have a less experienced player play Germany and then play historical Hungary. So I am really looking forward to Greece for Singleplayer and Turkey and Bulgaria for MP.

I am wondering how PDX spends developers time wasting on minors such as Greece and Bulgaria, the endless unimportant nations most of us will never play.
Instead, PDX should focus on game mechanics improvements such as AI, order of battle, brigade +division +corps +army +army group +front, and infrastructure +railways +bridges etc.
Some of game details such as tank building mechanic, airplane manufacturing and more detailed economic models and work/human resources will be the needed add-ons on current game mechanics. Why not just adding Tank Aces per tank battalions?? Heroes and Aces slots 5-10 per division and their assignments to other units, more and more historical generals, SS and Red Guards will be the excellent small details to make this game more time consuming and fun.

Thanks and regards
Jochen

Also of course that those Focus Trees were done by outside freelancers, delivering content, while the mainteam works on another DLC/Patch at the same time.
No, no, large dev teams can only work on one thing at a time, so while they're working on focus trees, all the AI programmers are all sent away on paid vacation so as not to disturb them.

I want to point out that if a focus tree is well done, Even if a player doesn’t actually play a country with a focus tree, having the AI run it can add to the flavor of the campaign and enhance the interactions majors have with minors
This is a very good point, too.

I guess if you play HOI4 with historical focus, you might find these minors underwhelming. But if you set your game up to allow pretty much anything to happen, it's a whole new game and you might find that playing as any minor suddenly makes you a contender. In fact, you might have more fun that you'd have with a major.

This is a themed focus pack and it looks very interesting to me. I'll definitely pick it up as I like to play with a more ahistorical set up nowadays. Germany does 39 - Poland, 40 - Low Countries and France, 41 - Balkans and Barbarossa in game. Been there, done that a few times already ;)

Hey, playing small unimportant minors that had little to no historical impact on WW2 other than to function as speed bumps for the Wehrmacht can be fun. I am still waiting for that Luxembourg focus tree that has an alt history path to reform Burgundy to rule Europe. :D

I don't get how tank aces can be a thing when it takes more than one person to operate them.

They go by rock star logic: the singer and/or lead guitarist is the star, the rest are just the band. The only execptions are the cases where the bassist is also the singer.

My guess...people play minors for fun and multiplayer?

Most DLCs have been about minor powers and not fixing land warfare or add more depth to Germany, USA, Japan, USSR, etc.

Turkey is one of the best minor to play.

No, the best to play.

I was waiting for that since the release of the game.

And why Turkey is the best ?

Look at its strategic position. Next to all oil reserve in middle east. They can attack Allies by Egypt or Russia by Caucasus.

And attacking Axis is so challenging. Fighting Germany in Balkan is like fighting on Eastern Front in worse...

Or create your own faction. But since you have a low industrial capacity, the only way to succeed is to blitz.

For me playing Turkey is a better experience than playing Germany.

Next must be Finland and Sweden !

Turkey is a great nation to play for a lot of reasons. Geographic location, terrain, the Black Sea as a naval battleground, potential, it's just a great country for all sorts of what-if scenarios. Join the war at the right time and you can really make an impact.

I almost exclusively play minors. My last few games were Greece, Poland, Turkey, Latvia, Sweden. I think the last time I touched a major was Italy for a fun naval war. Majors are fairly boring IMO.

I'm one of people that agree with idea of tank ace or hero. I think Ace is a really good concept compare to unit experience. First of all, unit experience gain is not balanced well. Usually when I've conquered the entire world, experience level of my elite tank divisions that participate in every major conflict is still either trained or regular. Ace mechanism can reward battle-tested army better than unit experience. Second, unit experience is not very good for immersion and story telling. A hero, with name, avatar and story, is simply more inspiring than number.

Disagree, I very rarely play with major powers. I find it infinitely more fun to play with minor nations. I have never played Italy and for most of the other majors have only played a handful of games. Of the majors I probably play Japan and China (if that is considered a major) the most. That being said I would certainly play the Soviet Union more if it had a more interesting focus tree. Thankfully they have already confirmed that majors will be worked on along with major releases and then country packs (which you don't have to buy btw) are a nice little bonus for those of us who love alternative history.

that's quite a bold statement. A lot of people don't play the majors because the minors tend to be more interesting. People love to play minors for a bit of a challenge or to try and go for achievements. Especially when Greece and Bulgaria played quite the roles in WW2. Saying that they're unimportant is quite overexaggerated. Yes, some people want an Italy and or Soviet rework, but I honestly think a focus tree for these countries that played quite the part in WW2, Wether they were neutral or not (even though Turkey joined the allies in the dying months of WW2), makes the game even more interesting.

Greece unimportant minor.... yeah a first Allied country that achieved land victory against Axis and gave Italy a major ass-whooping before Germany had to save them.
Face the fact, the Balkan was important region during the WW2, especially during the occupation era, it had the biggest partisan and resistance movements in countries like Yugoslavia.

Unimportant Minors . You see I´m very very .

If I read such again, that this and other Minors are not of interesst your hands get lop off. Is that understood?

That Countrys are important in that Timeline and thereafter and have a very interesting history. If some Majors that could say about themself (like USA) then something is won. Some of the Majors (like Germany, France, Russia, Japan, China) have very interssting history, but the Minors much more. That´s Turkey (and the Dev explaind it correctly), Greece, Bulgaria, South-Africa, Poland, Netherlands and many more.

I aggree that Turkey is getting a 3rd Reich in the Dessert today about the President and his policy there (Ergodan, Ergowahn or so) and destroys everything Attatürk has build up with blood, sweat and tears.
