Definitely. Can see Latium (Rome), Campania (Neapolis, split between Rome and Pompeii) Etruria (Just north of Rome, one province which is probably Clusium) and Samnium.
This makes my world conquests a lot more troublesome.. I thank you for sharing more information about it.
Yes. From the screenshots, Rome seems to contain 19 or 20 provinces.

Disagree. Too much micromanagement can make the game boring. Having to declare 30 wars only to control Naples would be a pain in the ass. Realism is great, but only if it doesn't ruin the fun. For example, you don't want a simple skirmish to last for 2 hours, despite it's likely to happen.
I personally love the new concept, more focused on settlements and not with so many provincial frontiers, that were not so important in ancient times
I wish we could create "states" (in Eu4 terms) by choosing which "provinces" (in Eu4 terms) will be part of it as in real history.
North-Western Iberia has a large concentration of nations, and look at Etruria! (What I believe is)27 Provinces!

The highlands on the Liris river were only completely subdued right about the game start date. But as a menace for Rome the Volsci had vanished decades before indeed.
According to Rock Paper Shotgun the game will have 7000 cities and 400 playable nations.
Did you subdivide them or you can see actual boundaries?
Not sure when is the starting date but by the 357 BC Volsci could be considered integrated, while the Aequi by the 304 ... Johan also stated that during the announcement so that one at least is correct. And I don't see any reason the 400 countries shouldn't be either.
Yeah but Imperium Universalis freezes every 5 minutes so it may as well have only 1 province in the entire mod for all the fun you can actually get out of the damn thing.
