I think a CSA going down in flames AAR would have been awesome.

Wow! Someone else actually remembers that game! It was one of the first two computer games I got, along with Colonization. It was, and I feel still is the best Civil War game. For its time it had remarkable complexity and scope to it. I am definately looking forward to Victoria though, the 18th of November can't come soon enough... The North shall triumph over the hedonistic and sin riddled South!![]()
I still play itOriginally posted by Benedict Arnold

Yep, you set up the master plan and your generals balk at your orders, ruining everything. My fave is that you had to reassign your generals after each turn, so that they don't become offended and you lose support of their home region.
Anyhow, great game for the time period.

I hope something like that is in Victoria, actually. The ACW lasted four years because, and only because, the Union spent three of those years sorting through various incompetent commanders. If there's nothing to force the Union to use McClellan, Pope, Rosecrans, Burnside, et al., multiplayer games are going to be absolute cakewalks for the Yankees.

hey max, tried that one a few months ago. Is there a manual somewhere? The links I followed didn't yield the needed info,
most things I can figure out, but the one thing that bugs me are the policys you have to set up for the states. I'm loosing all the border states to the darn yanks,
any help would be much appreciated,![]()

Lovely game, definitely my favorite that I've tried.
Are you talking about getting border states to secede in the first place, or keeping them from revolting? If you pick "Precipitate Uprising" for all the border regions on the first turn, you'll get North Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, and Arkansas pretty automatically. Maryland and Missouri never secede, that I've seen at least. The AI (no matter which side it is) invades Kentucky in the Fall 1861 turn, giving it to you.
After you've got the border, winning battles will keep it content regardless of your policies. In general, go with "Civil Rights" for your occupied regions - this causes their support for you to increase, while "Martial Law" causes it to decrease. But the results of the war as a whole really matter much more than that stuff.
Good luck... it's a very tough game. "Historical" is almost impossible for me to win on, and there are two higher difficulty levels.![]()

Why thank you for that spoiler, really nice of you to tell me about the book I am about to readOriginally posted by wildwolf
"Since this game goes to 1920, a Freedom Party is not impossible..."
Boy I sure hope that doesn't come about. Have you read the latest book? The Freedom Party has started concentration camps and the extermination of Blacks still left in the Confederacy.
